16 and 40
16. Smile
Smiles have not come easily to Yuan for a long, long time. He decided a long time ago that showing positive reactions made it too easy for someone to tell what would be the most painful thing to take away from him. Since making that decision, a proper smile is generally only seen by someone he considers his family. Even as a kid, he only smiled at home.
He does not consider smirking “smiling.” Smirking is a completely different expression, and is not unusual in the least.
40. Scent
Yuan’s hands almost always smell like leather, metal, or a combination of the two.
Any time his hands smell strongly of mint, it means something hurts--the ointment he uses on closed injuries is very powerfully minty.
Fears, Laughter, Sleep
Headcanon Prompts
4. Fear
When Yuan was little, he was afraid of spiders. Spiders were always met with squeaks of fear and pleas to his father for assistance. Yvain was very good about offering assistance, but he never killed the spiders–he set them safely free outside. After Yvain died, Yuan saw a spider and just barely managed to not cry as he brought it safely outside.
6. Laughter
Good, I needed an antidote to that last one. Sheesh.
It isn’t easy to make Yuan laugh. He likes puns, but those usually get smirks or snickers. The things that make him actually, truly laugh are usually small things–for example, getting paperwork requesting rubber-soled shoes for all the Renegades (and two pairs for Frank) or hearing a truly ridiculous story that can only be described as “you did what?” He has a very honest laugh. Martel has expressed a wish that he laugh more often, but he doesn’t like showing emotion–especially happiness–around anyone who he thinks might try to take it from him. Which is pretty much everyone.
27. Sleep
As mentioned, Yuan avoids sleep. However, that was not always the case. When he was younger, Yuan loved sleep. After his father died, a good night’s sleep became a very rare. Some of his most pleasant memories of traveling with Mithos, Martel and Kratos involve good nights’ sleep–whether it be in a particularly cozy cave, or an abandoned house, or an inn, a safe place to rest meant a lot to Yuan. Especially when no one had to sit up on night watch.
♡ + lightning
Send me ♡ + a word, and I’ll give you a headcanon related to that word.
Well, that’s a broad category XD
Yuan has been known to use his lightning magic for more than just combat--just as Mithos or Kratos could start their fire burning using magic when flint and steel was proving difficult, Yuan uses his magic for more mundane purposes as well. Sometimes he uses it as a power source--though usually this only happens in a pinch.
He’s also used it with the specific purpose of creating lightning glass, which was something his father showed him when he was a kid.
He’s used this glass in jewelry for his companions, with the intention of it being an amulet of sorts. Martel, Mithos, Kratos and Botta have all been given amulets of this nature. There are also some pieces of it embedded in Swallow.
once you get this, it'd be super rad if you'd share 5 random facts about yourself. then, pass this on to 10 of your favorite followers. ( for the mun )
O-okay sure XD
1. My taste in music is super-eclectic. My iPod has been known to go from old English hymns to metal to pop in the space of three songs XD
2. I’m blind in my right eye.
3. My favorite book is The Phantom Tollbooth, by Norton Juster
4. I used to share an apartment with @seed-of-hopes and @healer-of-kharlan and I miss it greatly
5. I’m still giggling over the Renegades comic and still weeping over the baby Lloyd drabble.
…and I’m also really bad at passing stuff like this on. I don’t have ten “favorite” followers, you’re all great. But I’ll try to pick at least a couple of people XD
Weaponmaster, let's try...a Zweihander!
“Now you’re starting to get an idea for the weapons I like, kid.
“Zweihander, German for “big damn sword.” Technically it means “two-hands,” but the effect is the same. They’re surprisingly light, for how big they are. But there’s definitely a learning curve with them, because there’s a bunch of hand positions–you could break a wrist pretty easily trying to swing one around without knowing what you’re doing.
“I have used them in the past, but I’d probably have a hard time of just picking one up and using it right. It has the size of Swallow and the shape of a longsword–so I’d either try to use one technique or the other, and that probably wouldn’t end well for me. That said, given a choice between a scythe (or a sickle-and-chain) and a zweihander, I’d probably take the zweihander.”
(go here for full-size, because tumblr seems to be squashing this a bit)
Tag a quality blog, You’re it! Quality doesn’t means that you have a lot of followers, or a lot of messages. It means that you’re nice to other people, and you deserve to be happy. If you get this message, someone is telling you that they love you as you are, and they don’t care how many followers you have. Send this to 15 blogs who deserve it. If you break the chain, nothing will happen. But it’s just good to let someone know that you love them.
((Aww, thank you so much! ^///^
((I rarely get around to passing these on, but it means a lot to me that you sent it to me!))
Okay, lets give you a hard one. Crescent Rose from RWBY (A Scythe-rifle)
“Points for a nice name. It’s hard to name weapons and not have it sound dumb.
“All right, everything I said about scythes last time around still applies. They’re big and unwieldy.” Not that he’s one to complain about big and unwieldy weapons. One look at Swallow would have anyone telling him that he was the pot calling the kettle black. “This one was designed for combat, at least, so it would be weighted properly for non-farming motions--like decapitating and stabbing things.
“The addition of the rifle is an interesting one. I’ve heard of gunblades before, but my understanding is that the the gun is for close-range only. With a rifle, you’d have the range back. Judging from the shape of the thing, you can dig the blade into the ground so you don’t have to hold it steady while you aim. Nice, but cumbersome. If you missed and I was coming at you with something lighter, I’d cut you in two before you could get the thing out of the ground.
“Honestly, I’d probably take a normal scythe over this unless I really needed a rifle. But it’s pretty clever nonetheless.”
