Part 2: Tyrone of the Iron Thorns

Scooby, Shaggy, and Cilan travel down the tunnel. Unfortunately the roaring is getting louder as they travel further, Scooby and Shaggy are shaking in fear but Cilan encourages them forward. They then turn a corner and encounter a strange, blue, metal Tyranitar that is attacking/trying to remove a bunch of rocks - a clear sign of a cave-in has happened here. 

It then turns to see them and surprisingly rushes over to them, its body language is clearly panicked and they soon know why as Scooby translates that it says its friend is trapped behind those rocks. 

Scooby, Shaggy, and Cilan and their Pokemon all help the metal Tyranitar and are able to help free their trainer/friend who is so incredibly thankful for their rescue 

They are called Rico and the metal Tyranitar is named Tyrone the Iron Thorns, he’s this Pokemon caretaker and he was transporting Tyrone to the Amusement Park in Nimbasa city as there is a similar Pokemon their called Charlie (In my AU Charlie the robot is a blue Iron Valiant that lives in the Nimbasa amusement park) Scooby and Shaggy remember who that Pokemon is, saying they met him once before. 

Rico and Tyrone had been traveling along route 4 when they had been attacked by the Iron Screech, which forced them to take shelter in the ruins. After a couple of attempts to try and leave that failed, forcing them to spend the night there, they decided to go deeper into the ruins hoping to find another way out, when the cave-in happened. Rico doesn’t know how long he was trapped in there as his watch stopped working since they arrived, but he is so glad they came along when they did.

Scene switches back to Chili and Velma. Velma asks about the futurist Noivern being called an ‘Iron Screech’ and Chili explains that a man - He points to said individual - said that’s what it’s called so Velma decides to ask that person some more questions about it. Said man is called Crunch and he is being really cagey and suspicious with his answers. He then dismisses Velma rudely, asking to be left alone before wandering off. Chili isn’t okay with the guy's attitude and chases after him, Velma follows along. As the two turn a corner chasing the man, suddenly they are sinking downwards - they've stepped into quicksand and are quickly swallowed up by the sand.

Scene Switches to Fred, Daphne, and Cress who have found their way out of the ruins and back in the desert. The sandstorm is still raging and Iron Screech can just barely be seen in the storm. As they try to return back inside the ruins, a mysterious person blocks their way and sends out a Cacnea, Cacturne, and Maractus. Fred, Daphne, and Cress have no choice but to battle this stranger if they want to get back inside - End of Part 2.

I was debating whether or not I would be drawing villains/monsters from the ‘The New Scooby-Doo Movie’ TV series (not to be confused with the actual Scooby Doo Movies) I honestly didn’t know this series existed until doing this challenge, so I assume that’s probably the same for most people. Anyway, after looking up the lineup of villains/monsters I thought “Why not, even if these guys are less known I can still work with this.”

While I couldn’t watch any episodes from this series, I could at least read a very detailed synopsis of individual episodes. 

So this is the first of the series which involved having guest star characters taking part in every episode, and, well, if I was rewriting it to fit the Scooby Doom AU that would mean swapping out those ‘guest stars’ with official Pokemon characters instead! Which just makes the idea of doing this more fun. 

For this episode there are 4 villains/monsters, so I’m splitting this into 4 parts as I think each monster/villian fakemon design deserved to get their own ‘spotlight’. 

So Episode 1 of the 'The New Scooby-Doo Movie’ series has the Scooby Doo gang meet the ‘Three Stooges’, so instead, for the Scooby Doom AU they meet the Striaton Trio!   

Part 1: Iron Screech

It’s just past Noon as the Gang are traveling through the Unovan Desert (Route 4) when they are driven off the road by a strange futuristic Noivern. As they are trying to defend themselves, a sandstorm picks up, making the situation worse.

It’s in this dire moment that the gang are saved by the sudden and unexpected appearance of the Striaton Trio, who assist in providing coverfire as they help the gang get to safety. The Striaton Trio then lead the gang to some old abandoned ruins where several other people and Pokemon are taking shelter.

Velma is surprised that the Gym Leaders are here and not at their Gym, as the gang have encountered the Striaton Trio before (as Daphne is taking the gym challenge and has already gotten their badge). 

It’s explained that the Trio were enroute to Nimbasa City, as they had been invited to judge a cooking contest being hosted near the Nimbasa Amusement park. Instead of taking the train, like Cilan had wanted, they had taken the bus to get to Nimbasa City and - just like the Scooby Gang - their bus was attacked by the ‘Iron Screech’. They, along with the other passengers, were forced to flee, but amazingly found shelter in these ruins. It’s noted that it’s odd that no one had found these ruins before, as it's not marked on any of their maps. 

The Striaton Trio mention that every time they try to leave the ruins they are attacked by the ‘Iron Screech’ and for some reason none of their devices are working either, so no one can call out for help. They’ve been there for a couple of hours and are low on food and water, so they need to find a way out of this situation soon. Fred immediately offers that he and the gang distract the Iron Screech while the Striaton Trio with the survivors make a run for it, and once they have made it to safety send back help. It's in the middle of this discussion that sudden loud roaring can be heard coming from deeper within the ruins, scaring Scooby and Shaggy along with the other people and Pokemon.

The survivors are worried that the Iron Screech has gotten into the ruins now. Fred volunteers the gang to go investigate, and the Striaton Trio also wants to come, it’s then pointed out that someone needs to stay to watch the survivors. Scooby and Shaggy say they would do it, but it's pointed out that Scooby’s nose is good for tracking so it would make sense for him to help with the investigation. (After being bribed with Scooby Snacks) the group split up 3 ways: Chili and Velma stay to watch over the survivors; Fred, Daphne and Cress go down one tunnel; and Scooby, Shaggy and Cilan go down another. End of Part 1
