A sigh as he hears a familiar rubber boing noise and prepares himself, giving about two seconds to make sure his body was stiff enough to take in the blast of the rocket shot Captain up to where he was in the crows nest.

—— he was used to this by now. his friends were all so strong. even when they were injured they acted like they were fine. medically he understood pain. personally he understood pain too... pain was different for everyone. if you could somehow give two people the exact same injury they would both experience it completely differently.

that was because pain was a perception. it had an emotional component that made it unique from person to person. if you were raised to ignore pain-- raised to see it as a sign of weakness to admit it hurts... you wont admit hurts. but pain was important and it should not be ignored.

chopper would usually refrain from saying anything. he knew there was honor in the actions of his crewmates, but he was also the doctor. and as the doctor he had a duty to look after his friends.
