Today I want to share with you
Future Poet - The person and the brand.
I am a mother of 2 children (boy and girl). They fill my world and are my world.
I have self -published 2 books. Future Poet’s Whispers Of Real Desire Shared (poetry book) and Level Up (quotes/affirmations book). Both are available on Amazon in paperback and ebook formats.
On a more personal level I have MS (Multiple Sclerosis) 👈🏾 That right there is the only unwanted thing in my life! However with all adversities you must find some positivity. So the idea of Future Poet, the brand, was born. I became fixated on having to prove to myself and everyone else that my life was going to mean something and not be finalised by MS. It had taken enough of me already and I refused to merely exist.
So slowly, I began to share my writings on various social media platforms and built a website. As the brand developed I made sure to separate myself and MS from it. I could keep this one thing free from MS. Hence the monochrome designs of all of my products and the clean image of my website.
I was determined to show my products and Feb 2018, I took a leap of faith and went to Spring Fair (the UK’s largest gift & home trade show.) The show was an unforgettable experience but immediately on my return personal matters required Future Poet to be put on pause.
I reread my own books, FP WORDS and Level Up, and realised I had done them an injustice by never marketing or promoting them properly. My impatience to prove myself and to succeed had also caused an injustice to my brand. I was focusing on too many products at once, not asking for help and had completely separated myself from it. To say I’m glad for the hindsight is an understatement. I just wish the lessons learnt weren't so costly!
During this hiatus, I've reflected on my successes and lessons (failures) and even contemplated ending the business altogether. But then I remembered why I started!
So today, with this post I start again!
The brand’s mission to inspire, empower and uplift will always remain but this time Future Poet, the person, will be on the journey too! 💜
