@futuresightcd // HAPPY BIRTH MATSUBA!
A little birdie had chirped about Matsuba’s birthday being today, and Steven was glad he still happened to be in the city. He definitely wanted to gift Matsuba something, but what?
Picking Birthday presents was never easy, not even if you had all the money in the world. Good gifts didn’t cost a lot of money, but were of emotional worth and tailored to the birthday child’s personal preferences. He had learned that very early on, when his own birthday presents had become more and more meaningless of the years, with no one seemingly trying to figure out what Steven might truly wish for.
And so the dilemma began.
Eventually, Steven found a small shop that sold antiques. He looked through the window and saw an old woman sitting behind the counter, sipping tea and reading a book. Hmm..what else was there?
Oh, this tea set looked absolutely beautiful. Intricately decorated, and really old, judging by the way the porcelaine is covered in brittle little veins of time. It was of a black colour, with golden decorations. “Excuse me, how much is this tea set?” The old lady blinked at Steven and shook her head. “It’s not for sale, it’s haunted.”
Steven blinked. Oh? Haunted?
“Even better! It’s for a friend whose birthday is today. So not only would he get a beautiful tea set, but also a friend additionally to it.” Needless to say, the woman thought Steven had lost his mind ( and maybe he did ) but eventually she did agree to sell it to him after Steven had insisted on it long enough.
And so, he rushed to make sure he’d meet Matsuba today, lest they’d miss each other on Mat’s birthday.
He handed him the package with a smile, slightly out of breath. “Happy birthday. I hope this is to your liking, handsome.”
Now about that haunting, maybe the lady had just wanted to scare him off? Maybe it was some kind of test? Or maybe the tea set really was haunted, in which case the spirit was definitely going to be happy to met Matsuba and the other ghost friends for sure.
