That’s still up in the air what Rejet plans to do. A new game is in the works for DL. It could be a side game like VC and LP, or it could be another core game (another retcon’ed continuation of the previous installment). Or, it could be something new with the same old characters. All I can do is guess.
What I know is that HDB, the first game, spawned from 6 original CDs. And prior to DF, Rejet released DF CDs for each family. The same thing happened before Lost Eden was released. So there definitely is a possibility that the CL CDs could be a prelude to the new game. I have my doubts, because if Rejet plans to make CL into a game, they haven’t released any more information about it.
Still, it’s worth speculating.
If CL was made into a game, I have some theories on how it could go. Watch this totally not happen tho.
Just like how you pick which family you want by going on a general prologue, the same goes for Team Scarlet, Violet, and Orange. The common story is that the families found Yui/Eve dormant inside a church, after the seal on the door was finally broken after a long time.
Everything would be reset. Including the memories of Yui and the vampires, and their feelings for her. We can already see that by how harshly she is treated in the CL CDs. These are their original, sadistic personalities, before they underwent character development thanks to Yui.
This is a whole new canon AU, after all. One in which the families are related by blood. That’s why there is no mention of the mothers, only the late vampire king.
Depending on the choices you make in the common prologue, you will be found by either Team Scarlet, Violet, or Orange.
From there, things get interesting. You could even introduce a new way to play the game.
By that, I mean how it is in Hakuouki; you interact with all of the men from within the Team that snatched you, and you get choices that raise their affection level for you, as well as your Do-S/Do-M meter. Eventually of course, there comes a second part which focuses on Yui and the male with the highest affection level. There could be multiple endings.
The other way is how it was with the other games; you pick from the get-go which vampire you want, and the rest follows the same Dark/Manic/Ecstasy path like in HDB/MB/DF/LE (the ‘core’ games). Of course, you would still interact with other members of the household, but the focus is on building a strong bond between Yui and the lucky vampire.
Remember, whoever obtains Eve, is the top dog. So say that even the youngest of each family win her heart – they can turn the tables and it would add a whole new dynamic to the entire system!
It’s also very interesting because the families within each Team interact more brotherly with each other than the Sakamaki (not counting the Mukami). To be more clear, they refer to each other as brothers (younger or elder). There is a hierarchy. Some younger brothers respect the eldest, and want to act in the interest of the whole family (I should just call them clans lol). But as always, toss Yui/Eve into the mix and loyalties are tested
The endings could still follow Brute, Vampire, Manservant.
Some possible bad endings include: Yui snatched away by another brother within the clan at the last second. Yui snatched by the enemy clan. Yui becomes head, etc etc.
If you like interactions between certain rivals, and you wish they would have more interactions, well, now you get to watch them be forced to live under one household as brothers and annoy tf outta each other
These are simply my theories, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up. As much as I would like to see this happen, I’m well aware of Rejet’s current climate regarding sales and profits. Iwasaki-sensei works very hard to keep the company together. I wish more people could understand what that means, instead of demanding new races and characters out of sheer entitlement.
New plushies, and a third season may or may not come this (or next) year. It’s Rejet’s call, and we have to accept the fact that we are not their primary target (the Japanese fanbase is). Which makes localization less likely. The best thing to do is continue supporting them by buying their merchandise and CDs.
