When Kya started showing signs of her waterbending Katara was so happy to carry on her legacy.
When Kya started waterbending and her dad, Aang, also water bent Kya thought she could also airbend so she could be just like her dad. Aang had to explain to her that he was the Avatar and she unfortunately couldn’t airbend. 2-3 year old Kya was disappointed because she thought she could carry on her dad’s legacy.
Kya’s flower child traits were shown once she was able to walk on her own. Katara would find her in the gardens laying near the flowers and watch the clouds.
Kya saw Aunt Toph always barefoot and so she would always takes her shoes off and walk around the temple. Katara and her would always argue in the morning when she would dress Kya. “But the earth feels so night under my toes, mommy!” Young Kya would argue to which Aang and Toph would be like “what’s the harm, Sugarqueen? Sugarprincess will be fine”.
Kya in her infancy would always be barefoot.
Kya and Bumi would make flower crowns for each other.
Kya gotten the sense of auras from a young age and so whenever she felt Bumi was sad she would crawl over to her big brother and wrap her arms around him. Kya would know that Bumi wouldn’t want to talk about it so she would just quietly give "Bum Bum” tight hugs.
Lin Beifong x reader: Hold me, even for a moment, if possible.
Hold me, Even For A Moment, If Possible
(Lin Beifong x Reader)
Alright let’s try this out. Hopefully I didn’t disappoint
Bold Italic is reader thought the green is Lin’s.
Hold me, Even For A Moment, If Possible
(Lin Beifong x Reader)
“Y/N, why do you have to go?!” Lin huffs as she paces in her living room as you’re leaning against the wall holding onto the bridge of your nose.
“I already told you, Lin. The United Forces were recruiting and I think it would be a good opportunity for me.”
“Bull Shit” Lin spat as she stands looking at your with her glaring green eyes.
“Lin, I know it’s hard, but we can write, exchange wires, I’ll call you when I’m stationed somewhere.” You try to reason with the chief of police.
Hold me.
It’s all Lin thinks about is your arms around her. She didn’t know it was something she craved until the first time you hugged her after walking her to her car after closing down the bar for the night. She was taken aback by the sudden action but she warmed up to it and returned the gesture.
____
The thought of going around the world helping people has always been a dream of yours. The army wasn’t really the ideal place since you don’t agree with the politics. Your mind changed when visiting Air Temple Island and got introduced to Commander Bumi. “Don’t believe a word he says. It’s all hog-monkey shit” Lin leans over to you and whispers as the group listens in. You chuckle as you shake your head while you watch how animated the commander got. He had a bunch of stories to tell and since you were always willing to listen no matter how exaggerated or dramatized he told it. You were more fascinated that even remotely 20% of the story was true. Your bug to travel was instantly bit and you had the itch to alleviate it.
During that time, you and Lin started developing a friendship. Closer that you ever imagined. It started when she stumbled into your bar one night and you shared a couple of drinks while manning the service. Exchanging crazy stories, Lin taking down triads and you, bar fights. One particular night Lin manages to tell you the story of her scar. She didn’t mention who did it, but that it was during a car chase in her twenties. You gave her a smirk as she downed her shot glass, then proceeded to roll up your sleeve. Showing her the scar across your forearm from a drunken patron who cut you with their beer bottle when you tried to cut him off then proceeded to throw him out of your bar. It seemed that after that particular night Lin would frequent the establishment in her free time and the conversations would last throughout the night.
It was a nice friendship. That’s all it was, right? There are people more worthy for Lin’s attention or affection. Lin Beifong, the beautiful and mysterious Chief of Police sitting on a bar stool in front of you. Normally quiet, is talking about how her officers are a bunch of idiots but that she wouldn’t change a thing because of her men, her family in a way. She cares for her officers. There’s an exchange of jokes between the two of you. Some days when you wake up early enough you arrange to go out for lunch with her. The friendship developed outside of the bar.
____
Even though you know I’m leaving. Show me all the reasons I would stay. You think as you look up and see Lin.
In all her anger and her sense of betrayal for you wanting to leave. Enough silence as passed between the two of you that you needed to fill the air.
“It’s not a goodbye, Lin”
Lin raises her hand to stop you causing you to sigh as you fold your arms.
please don't go. Let me have you just one moment more
____
Lin had grown to care about you and she’s come to gotten used to your constant presence in her life. She was glad to have came across your bar from one of her detectives recommendation. Whenever she left the office early she would swing by for a drink. It would always end up with her leaving the early hours of the morning. Losing track of time because she was engaged in conversation with the attractive bartender. It seemed like she could talk to you about anything and she didn’t have to worry about any judgements. Lin thought it was just part of your job to be that attentive since she’s a patron.
That changed when you invited Lin out for lunch whenever she was free. One lunch turned into a weekly thing, then it developed to outings to pro bending games. Once Lin let it slip that she enjoyed and partook in art the bartender brought up that there was an upcoming art exhibition in the city. Lin was happy, for once, of the friend she made. That’s all it was though, a friend. No way the bartender was attracted to her.
____
You and Lin are just staring at each other at this point having an inner conversation with glances and head tilts. You can barely hold your inner turmoil and have to voice it out.
“I’m sorry. I can’t” you push off the wall and walk towards the Chief.
“I’m not gone. Don’t you dare think I’m leaving you. I’ll be returning once my tour is done” you looking into those jaded green eyes that you’ve come to love to get lost into.
Lin stays quiet as she tries to fight her own inner turmoil of what to say. She doesn’t know what to say. She’s never been one to know or how to formulate her words right. So she does what she does best. She uses her actions. A tear forms on her inner eye and she pull you close and holds you. Your arms snake around her waist as you hold her close and tight in your arms.
“Even though I know you're leaving.” Lin mutters before her voice slightly cracks,
Heya, sorry for the late reply I have been cleaning out my room so I can repaint it. Anyhow here are some of the headcanons I have for Captain X Lin :
1. Lin keeps any and all notes/letters from the Captain in a box she has hidden under her bed, and even writes a few to the Captain however Lin being Lin, doesn't give them to the Captain because she doesn't like being vulnerable with her emotions despite the fact that the Captain would 100% love them. The letters Lin wrote are also in this box and I like to think Lin would end up giving them to the Captain on one of their significant anniversaries or on their wedding night if they get married.
2. The Captain adores Lin's scars because to her they symbolise Lin's strength and perseverance whilst emphasising the hardships she has been through (they are also badass so ...) Because of this when ever they are having a soft moment between them, the Captain would cup Lin's cheek and softly run her thumb along Lin's scars. From Lin's perspective I think she would adore the Captain's touch and would most definitely feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside because of it, I think it would quickly become Lin's favourite form of love language between them because of the Captain's adoration for Lin's scars, it helped her accept them despite having them for 30 odd years ( I think she resented the constant reminder of what happened) and also made her feel beautiful and proud of who she is.
3. Lin loves the Captain's work ethic and how good she is at her job but a very minute part of her wishes that the Captain wasn't in the police force because of how dangerous it can be, and she is terrified of something happening to the Captain. If anything were to happen Lin would feel an immense amount of guilt and responsibility as her Chief to have done something to protect her. Similarly the Captain would fear for Lin's safety but I think she would have more confidence in Lin's ability to hold herself, though no doubt she would rather avoid life threatening events.
Okay that's all for now ☺️- Y❤️❤️
Ugh I love these 😩
1. Lin writing letters are such a hassle. Lin can never find the time. Atleast that’s what she tells herself but it’s really she doesn’t know what to write about. Especially when it’s to you so mostly in the letters isn’t just professional updates with a sentence of thinking of you at the end. Lol
Slowly Lin writes less about work and more about you.
2 is absolutely true about Captain. They would do this and it’s their favorite thing to do when their alone together.
3. Lin wasn’t afraid for Captain’s safety in the beginning years. It started to happen after the Red Lotus. Seeing Captain on the medical bed in such a bad state changed something in Lin.
Book 4 snippets
Lin isn’t overbearing but she does get worried once Captain goes back to the force. It’s caused fights between the two. They’re both stubborn and reckless to accept they should be more careful.
When Kya was born everyone told Katara how beautiful she is. Sokka looked at Kya and told his sister how squishy she looked. Which was Sokka’s version for beautiful. “Squishy” became Kya’s nickname from her Uncle Sokka.
Kya sometimes gives her family and friends reasons to worry when her fearless side comes out. Her curiosity gets the best of her and makes for a lot of quick decisions. She seeks the thrills of life and want to experience that feeling of being on top of the world constantly. Which started When Kya tumbled on top of the slick rocks at the shore of ATI. Katara and Aang were scared to see small 4-5 y/o giggling barefoot Kya standing on the slick rocks.
While Bumi has the skill in playing the flute. Kya learned to play the pipa. Uncle Iroh taught Kya how to play and she continues to play to stay connected with her uncle.
Kya is not a conformist at all. While her friends are always on the latest fad and trends. Kya just does her own thing and prides herself for being an original. Sometimes when Kya creates her own trends and finds others following her. Kya is not a conformist at all. While her friends are always on the latest fad and trends. Kya just does her own thing and prides herself for being an original. Sometimes when Kya creates her own trends and finds others following her. Especially Lin, Suyin, and Izumi.
Idk how much more I have left, but *cracks knuckles* here I go....
Kya sees what others miss. Everyone sees the exterior or first layer of the image or scene in from of them. Kya sees what’s hidden. She looks past what most might see and find the deeper meaning. Her heart is loving for others. She sees the world with hopeful eyes. Hence how Kya was able to notice Jinora and her sight for spirits.
Even though Kya is a loving and free spirited “hippie” she isn’t afraid to be challenged or tested by others. She loves challenges and views them as a way to learn and grow especially with her healing. She’s wise enough to recognize when someone is testing her.
With her healing she has a strong desire to make the world a better place by providing medical service to those small village who don’t have healthcare. She builds clinics and works with Asami and Bataar Sr in bringing the train tracks close to the villages.
Kya is a daddy’s girl and had Aang wrapped around her little finger. Once Tenzin was born and he showed air bending was when Kya started to develop signs of jealousy. She would bully Tenzin growing up.
Kya is one of the boys, especially since she grew up with two brothers. She isn’t one to settle in boy sides and girl sides. Kya is tough.
Do u think the creators know abt kyalin?? I mean they’re the third most popular lok pairing on ao3 but I’d go crazy if they made kyalin canon in the comics
I surely hope so. I mean I thought it was a popular pairing, but it seems to still be a smaller ship compared to the rest. It didn’t make it on the list of lok popular pairings.
I would be deceased if Kyalin became canon.
The mutals and I’s reaction if that ship became canon.
Kyalin in Bridgerton AU. Which do you feel would work better? Kya the Duchess of Gyatso and Lady Beifong, OR switch it to Lin the Duchess of Beifong and Lady Kya
Lin, Duchess of Beifong and Lady Kya Gyatso.
Now you have me imagining them in regency clothing 😩
