“Your fly is open...”
This is Hamburg, Germany, overnight. The protests against capitalism and the G 20 have been going on yesterday, overnight and into today. At night the masked rioters came out in force as did the police. There has been looting and cars set on fire. My son lives here and these are the streets I walked on two weeks ago. He has gone to Majorca for a few days as he would not have been able to get to work or to leave his apartment easily. The peaceful protesters have been caught up with the hardliners. The stand they are taking against globalisation is far from over. May peace return to the streets without the loss of life.

1000 silhouettes fantomatiques pour protester contre le sommet du G20 Quand 1000 silhouettes fantomatiques déambulent dans les rues de Hambourg pour protester contre le sommet du G20, une performance impressionnante réalisée par 1000 Gestalten. Le 5 juillet 2017, le collectif allemand a réuni 1000 personnes entièrement maquillées de gris, symbolisant le béton, mais également la morosité ambiante d’une société ayant perdu tout sens de la solidarité. Après une marche silencieuse, les 1000 personnes ont ensuite abandonné leurs costumes gris pour dévoiler leurs couleurs, symbole d’une volonté de changement et d’une soif de liberté et de tolérance. À l’opposé des débordements et des scènes de violence qui ont plongé la ville de Hambourg dans le chaos pendant le sommet du G20, la performance silencieuse de 1000 Gestalten montre une nouvelle fois la volonté du peuple de vivre en paix et en harmonie, tout en protestant contre les décisions politiques et économiques actuelles.
