as an extra about my previous post, g.aby acts the way she does that first night in order to incite i.llya towards v.iolence. she expects him to act out, to hit her, to get angry. it's what she wants, especially after drinking. she deliberately puts herself in what she deems as an unsafe situation in hopes that he'll act the way she wants to she's justified in her anger && fear of him. when he doesn't do anything, she's forced to sit back && reevaluate him && from there she's able to move past her distrust && hatred.

g.aby being a first soloist means that she was just under the principle dancers. at that level, the roles she would generally be main secondary characters && an understudy for principle dancers. not every company has a first ( alt : senior ) soloist rank but with those that do, it's typically filled with rising stars capable of pulling in audience members of their own.

at this rank, g.aby would have been practicing several hours without time off while actual work time is capable of being inconsistent. eventually, she ends her career after an injury. she manages to heal almost perfectly, but by then she had started working as a mechanic in her foster fathers garage && decided to stay, a decision further cemented after his death.

i.llya is a threat. he is a large r.ussian man like those who feature in her nightmares. their first meeting has him chasing her. their second has him physically moving her, talking over her, treating her like she's nothing. his focus is primarily on s.olo, g.aby is nothing but a doll to manipulate to his liking.
