Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury Review

For PC gamers, a mouse has to be a lot more than simply a functional pointing device. Logitech’s G402 Hyperion Fury tries to be that ultra fast fps gaming mouse that gamers need. While it’s not a high-end device, it has some notable features that help it to stand out.

I revealed recently that the Logitech G402 Hyperion Fury is one of the items in the Lazada X Logitech Surprise Box that will be selling during the Lazada Birthday Festival 2018, which starts from midnight tonight. If you’re a PC gamer, and you’re looking for a mouse, watch out for this deal, I’ll fill you in with more details later.

Logitech markets the G402 as “the world’s fastest gaming mouse” and, to their credit, it’s faster than you’ll probably need it to be. The G402 tracks speeds in excess of 420 inches per second. That’s 35 feet per second, or 10.7 metres per second. I don’t suppose your game requires such high speed pointing device movements.

Speed, of course, isn’t all that matters. Tracking resolution is equally important. While the G402 doesn’t match 12,000 dpi like on Logitech’s G502, its 4,000 dpi is plenty good. You can also adjust the dpi settings on-the-fly, to four different levels downward to the minimum 250 dpi.

Then, there’s also the matter of accuracy. The G402 provides 16 bits/axis data at 1000 Hz (1 ms interval) over USB, and it will also handle 20 G of acceleration.

Whether it’s a sudden flick of your wrists, or a deft minuscule movement you’ve executed, the G402 will not lose you.

The technology behind the insane tracking speed comes down to the Fusion Engine hybrid sensor that Logitech uses in the G402. Instead of just relying on optical sensors that track movement across a flat surface like most mice do, the G402 incorporates a accelerometer and gyroscope to keep up with your sudden movements. An onboard 32-bit ARM processor crunches all those sensor inputs to accurately track what you’re doing with the mouse.

In my testing, the G402 kept up with ridiculous movements I tried to throw at it. Granted, I’m not a gamer, and my vigorous hand motions are hardly representative of any real game play, I came away impressed with the G402’s ability to keep up.

That speed, resolution, responsiveness and accuracy aside, the G402 is quite ordinary. You get the usual left and right buttons, a clickable scroll wheel in the centre, and four macro buttons you can customise with the Logitech Gaming Software.

A dedicated dpi shift button on the side makes it easy to switch dpi settings on-the-fly.

The G402 has a slightly angular design. It should fit comfortably in most hands. The four macro buttons are split so that the index finger and thumb each reaches two of them. I did find that my index finger was a little too long to “very easily” reach the closer button though.

Although there is no RGB lighting on the G402, you do get a pulsing “G” logo in the centre. I suppose that’s the minimum requirement for anything device that wants to be counted as a gaming gadget.

Unfortunately, there is little else that the G402 offers. You cannot customise acceleration profile, or make use of built-in game library.

The good news, though, is that Logitech has priced the G402 Hypersion Fury affordably. The retail price in Singapore is S$79.

There’s better news. The Lazada X Logitech Surprise Box includes this G402 Hypersion Fury, and the box sells for just S$29. This box becomes available at 12 midnight tonight, i.e. at the start of 24 April 2018. Em sua linha de mouses, a Logitech anuncia o G403 como o mouse de jogo mais rápido do mundo, ou melhor dizendo, um mouse para jogos FPS ultrarrápido.

Seu design futurista, a presença de botões programáveis e seu slogan chamaram minha atenção. Como fã incondicional de jogos FPS (Halo e Battlefield são alguns exemplos), fiquei curioso.

Será que um mouse pode fazer a diferença em uma partida multiplayer online? Vale a pena investir em um equipamento deste nível para jogar? Descubra nos próximos parágrafos desse review.

Design

O mouse G402 Hyperion Fury tem um design futurista, que segue o novo padrão da marca. Ele é maior que os mouses convencionais e possui uma textura emborrachada, com detalhes em plástico brilhante.

Do lado direito, temos uma textura emborrachada que ajuda na pegada do mouse. No lado esquerdo, os botões de mudança de DPI (pontos por polegada, em tradução livre), botões para auxiliar durante os jogos e 3 luzes que indicam qual velocidade de DPI está selecionada.

No total são 8 botões, todos programáveis através do software da Logitech. O cabo é longo, tendo 2,13 metro no total, porém não é revestido com malha, como alguns modelos de mouse para jogos. No entanto, o material parece ser bem resistente.

Software

O Logitech Gaming Software, que também controla o Headset G430 que testamos, é a surpresa mais agradável deste mouse. É bem completo, simples e intuitivo.

É possível criar perfis, programar as teclas e salvar os perfis no computador ou até mesmo no próprio mouse.

Além disso, o software também reconhece os jogos instalados em seu computador, permitindo que você possa personalizar as teclas com comandos do jogo e salvar o perfil personalizado. Assim, na hora de jogar você não precisa ficar configurando teclas e mais teclas!

O usuário também pode escolher até cinco níveis de sensibilidade (DPI) e alternar entre eles na hora do jogo. O mouse vai de 240 até 4000 DPI. Com esse recurso você tem muito mais flexibilidade dentro de um jogo de FPS, tipo de jogo ao qual o mouse se destina, independente da classe que escolha.

Para conseguir tal velocidade, a empresa combina o sensor óptico com acelerômetro: quando o sensor não acompanha a velocidade do movimento, o acelerômetro entra em cena.

Você pode jogar de Sniper e mirar mais precisamente em inimigos, com 250 DPI, e se mover num piscar de olhos (4000 DPI), se estiver jogando como Assalto, Suporte ou Engenheiro.

Dentro do programa da Logitech também existem testes de velocidade de movimentação do mouse, e um mapa térmico, que mostra as teclas mais utilizadas pelo usuário durante determinado período.

E por último, você ainda pode alterar as configurações de iluminação do mouse, escolhendo o nível de brilho do “G”, de Logitech, que fica na parte de cima do mouse, como adicionar um efeito de pulsação.

E jogando, vale a pena?

O mouse foi testado em jogos de tiro em primeira pessoa, os conhecidos jogos de FPS, categoria onde ele se sobressai, pois se afirma como o “mais rápido do mundo”. Como falei no tópico anterior, ele vai de 240 até 4000 DPI, e isso faz com que ele realmente seja ideal para esse tipo de jogo.

Um botão abaixo das luzes de indicação de nível de DPI também ajuda a mudar a velocidade em um piscar de olhos. Quando está pressionado ele altera o DPI do mouse para o menor valor configurado, dando assim agilidade nas trocas de velocidade, perfeito para jogar de Sniper.

Em Battlefield 4 o jogo reconheceu todos os comandos gravados previamente no software da Logitech, não sendo necessário alterar as configurações dentro do jogo. Confira uma pequena demonstração:
