Geotrypetes translates into earth borrer, while seraphini could mean burned (although it could come from the word seraph, which also means the burning one.)
Family: Dermophiidae (Common Caecillians)
Fun Fact: “It is viviparous, giving birth to young on land, and is not dependent upon water for breeding.” (IUCN)
Habitat: They are endemic to lowland rainforests (mainly underground) in Central Africa.
Ecosystem Role: They help control populations of worms, insect larvae, and other invertebrates.
