If you were to pick one song — and only one song — to describe your character, what would it be and why? (Gabriel)
Catalyst - Kyla La Grange
Okay, so this is based off what I’ve collected for Gabriel so far, but I think this one works surprisingly well. it has a sense of... tragic romance to it with lines like “Oh nobody caught me yet, I hope that you will” and “I'll give you a love that cannot last”. Which is a defining trait for Gabriel I think. He’s very content to play his part, and most of the time he legitimately enjoys the hedonism, but he’s still starved for any actual, lasting emotional attachments.
Though he doesn’t exactly encourage people to stick around- “For all that I needed, I need you not to care”. The verse begins with “Lie down take your clothes off, and let me stare”, which sets up this more... physical things, something inherently intimate in a way. Gabriel is very much a collection of physical desires that are met to excess; sex, and food, and fabrics, but without nay real joy behind them. they’re fun, but the shine wears off eventually.
The song has a very slow, almost somber mood to it, which works surprisingly well for Gabriel, who bounces between things like this, and the more techno, highly synthetic sounds, and both are very fitting for the character but I think that the more techno-sound will fade with time, as the new fad comes in, and a new exiting things sweeps the world.
Gabriel may want those connections, but there’s no small part of him that does like losing himself in the world of being immortal, and the slower, quieter mood of Catalyst works well for the person Gabriel is, when he isn’t being himself.
