🦅 Do you outline fics or fly by the seat of your pants?
It totally depends on the fic. Some have simply started as vague concepts and notes that I write out most of the way then try to retrofit some kind of structure to, lol. But these days, I try to do a rough outline for most fics. I am likely to veer wildly off the plan at a moment's notice, so I try to keep them flexible, but the general shape of the outline typically stays the same even if the details change
I have been trying my hand at being more and more structured in my outlines, though, mostly because as much of a headache as they can be, they also save a lot of pain in the long run. The Queen of Hearts is a Bitch, for example, has a full Save the Cat! beat sheet going on behind it. Although once again, as the story has actually gotten written, I've had to go back and change the details, lol. The structural elements are still intact, though!
