GADADU - The Weatherman Is Wrong - chamber jazz dream pop ❤️
GADADU's third album, The Weatherman Is Wrong, is a foray into the unpredictable - a Pandora's box of textures and rhythms. The album’s title is an allegory for the unpredictable and genre-defying nature of this music. In a world of heavily systematized and regulated media content, The Weatherman Is Wrong brings listeners into a creative wilderness. The feeling of this world, in all its sounds and expressions, exists a posteriori to the predictions of weather instruments and meteorologists. This album synthesizes the musical sensibilities of bandleaders (and spouses) Hannah Selin (voice, viola) and Nicki Adams (piano, synth), whose collaboration spans almost a decade. Hannah and Nicki's divergent musical paths gave birth to the unique elements in The Weatherman Is Wrong. Hannah’s compositions for acoustic instruments, electronics, voices, and field recordings, equally inspired by the natural and the supernatural, have won commissions and international awards. Nicki has released albums as a bandleader on iconic jazz labels Sunnyside and Steeplechase. GADADU’s lineup includes Patrick Adams (trumpet), Ayumi Ishito (tenor sax), Dan Stein (bass) and Arthur Vint (drums). The colorful arrangements, brimming with synths, horns, and strings, reflect GADADU’s live sound since Ayumi joined the band in 2018.
