I’ve never drawn so many people in one piece but here we go!! A commission for tinkerboricua over on gaiaonline. It took waaay to long to finish this but I think the end result was worth it. c:
Where and when did the line get drawn between kinetics and magi? Like, when did people decide "hey these people have kinesis and these people are magi and we're gonna put them in these different districts?
Alistair split them up cause he sees Kinetics as just genetic time bombs and Magi as ‘normal humans’ with a lot of talent.
Kinetics get their powers from a gene they have that doesn’t fully activate until puberty (though cases of powerful early or weak late ‘manifests’ can happen). There’s a huge variety of kinesis, but most kinetics can only use one, with two or three being incredibly rare and often feared due to that kind of power going to their heads. Some can power through, though, like Virgil with Chloro (plants) and Ferro (iron).
Kinetics also die if they have a child with a ‘normal human’, with their kinesis transferring over to their child before they die. There’s an incredibly low chance of them surviving, but this often leads to the kinetic being very weak and ill or their child having very weak kinesis. They can also die if they have children with a Magi, but it just makes them get very ill and eventually pass away from it if they have enough kids. For example, the Ignatios family with Claus, a Ferrokinetic, and Ariana, a Magi. After having Remus (child 3), Claus began to fall ill, and shortly after having William (child 4), he passed away.
Kinetics also have something called kinesis fatigue, where they begin to have severe side effects after using too much of their kinesis. Early and late manifests aren’t at as much of a risk of it, but early manifests have it worse. Double or triple manifests often don’t have a risk at all.
It starts with being lethargic, weak, shaky, etc, but can then turn into being lightheaded, nauseous, in pain, to even having this thing called crystallization happen where the energy from kinesis causes your blood to form these crystals that like to jab out of your body really painfully. There’s also coma or death. Fun times! Some people harvest the crystals from crystallization to make ammo or resources for stuff, but it’s really really taboo. Some people just wanna charge their bullets with energy from some kid overusing Pyrokinesis or something, I guess.
In Gaia, everyone has at least some of this blue essence called Mana in their blood, but people born with enough in their blood to properly harness magic (and also tint their blood to be a kind of reddish-violet color) are called Magi. They can learn any kind of magic, so can others, but the ability to use it properly comes more naturally to Magi. They can also use it with less repercussions, like it backfiring or using up all your Mana and starting to get sick.
Added 5 Relationships to Celeste’s page

Made a bunch of Gaia Sprites of Celeste using the Gossamer color palette. These are the ones I really liked!
