Are there monsters or the evil gods that Chroma fear beside Kuro's gods?

GAIIA: Yes, there are plenty of monsters throughout the Realms. Giant spiders, rogue elemental behemoths, dyr wolves, and our age-old enemies (besides the Kuros), the sphinxes.

Sphinxes have existed about as long as the Chroma have, and according to history, had their own civilizations long before we did. There’s nothing I’ve ever been able to find or be told why the sphinxes hate the Chroma so much; the only think I’ve been able to read is that they have flat, muzzle-less faces, the body of a lion, and wings. They can speak any known dragon tongue, as well as with the beasts of the Realms. While an adult sphinx is usually only half the size of a fully grown Chroma, they tend to hunt in packs, and every hatchling is warned that their cunning words and promises of safety or treasure are all lies.

There are plenty of others, but these are the ones that scare me the most, living on the outskirts of the clan’s territory.

If anyone ever said that working 80+ hours a week on a gruelling thesis paper only to be  ignored by professors day in and day out was EASY, they deserved to get stabbed in the eye. Repeatedly. Ed’s weeks were much of the same thing:  attend grad classes, TA for some of his lazier and more ASININE professors, go home and type out 10,000 pages of dry academic drivel, rinse, repeat. Every. Single. Day.

His schedule left very little room for a social life,  which oddly worked out fine most of the time. Being a natural introvert had its advantages, but he was also part of a high-performing class at Gotham University. Exhibit  A:  his  new-ish  lab  partner in the ONE mandatory botanical sciences course on his timetable.  Forensics was very little help if the M.E.  couldn’t identify some of the seeds and plant remains found on a body.

         “Could you pass me the tweezers,   please?”  he  asked  softly but  politely,  eyes zeroed in on the small brown fragment he needed to get on a slide. At least he could say this for Pamela Isley: she was efficient and dedicated to her work. It was a stroke of LUCK that his other lab partner came down with Necrotising Fasciitis.
