Factory data reset Galaxy Nexus (GT-I9250) and probably other android devices
I was easily able to wipe the data from a Galaxy Nexus which we couldn’t log into using recovery mode:
Power off the phone
Hold down power, volume down and volume up at the same time. The phone will power on and you’ll see a green android lying on is back with an open belly panel, and an arrow pointing right and saying start. This big arrow displays your menu options, and you select an option by clicking the power button.
Scroll through the menu using the volume up/down keys and select ‘Recovery’ (click the power botton to select).
You’ll know you’re in recovery mode when you see an android with an exclamation mark. To pull up the recovery menu, hold the power button and tap volume up. The ‘Android system recovery’ menu should now display itself.
Select wipe data/factory reset.
Reboot, and you’re done!
