If I wrote Dragonball What I would change: Saiyan Transformation
Dragonball is known for its iconic Super saiyan transformation. But the thing is, After the First Super saiyan, the others lacked a certain Style to it. Though there are some transformations that are actually still pretty awesome. But some need some tweaks. So let me get into it
Honestly, no real notes. I like the form. Giant monkey form. It gives a 10x multiplier and during a full moon any saiyan with a tail turns into it. It can learn to be controlled and its what made Saiyans feared.
Broly is given a certain form known as the "Ikari" form. where a saiyan gets the power of a Great Ape without transforming into one. This is where I would make my change. The ikari form is the final evolution of the Oozaru. Fully mastering the Oozaru form allows for the Ikari state.
I do think there is potential in the Ikari form. Thats where I would alter things.
In GT, in order to gain super saiyan 4, a saiyan becomes a great ape and goes super saiyan while as a great APE, becoming a Golden great ape and then turning into super saiyan 4. I want to sort of tweak it for the Ikari form. The great ape form getting mastered completely allows for a Saiyan to access the Ikari power. Basically getting that 10x multiplier without being a rampaging Ape.
The Ikari form being seen as something a saiyan only gets with control over the wildness would be cool. And having this be the first transformation would be kind of cool and I wish was explored in Dragonball.
Now, lets go to the OBVIOUS one.
I HATE the retcon with the whole S-Cells thing. So I am going to ignore it. But the legend of super saiyans being awakened by Rage while having a pure heart seemed interesting. Though how Vegeta awakened it was an inverse to how Goku did, goku was consumed by rage over the lose of his friend, while Vegeta on the brink of death felt himself felt himself stop careing about everything, in a way letting go. And thats where I think the Super saiyan form should come from. It being the inverse of the Ikari form, The ikari form being about gaining complete control of the beast, to obtain super saiyan its about relinquishing control and letting one feeling of pure emotion overwhelm you. Thats the key to obtaining super saiyan. The control thats been honed being released.
The 50x power increase from Base is perfectly fine, I think keeping that is good. Though when the super saiyan form is achieved, the Ikari form is let go off.
As a Bonus, I would also have it that the super saiyan form allows the user to fight anywhere, as saiyans are said to be able to do that, so while they cant breathe in space, the vacuum of space or deep in the Ocean has zero impact.
Now once the super saiyan form is attained, the feeling is never forgotten. And like in Canon, super saiyan can be expanded upon, both in Levels or grades
Though I would show the strain the super form can have if activated for a long time without mastery.
Now this is where we start getting into the Grades of super saiyan.
Super saiyan grade 2, or as vegeta called it, Super vegeta
This form is considered superior to base super saiyan, with the drawback being that it puts more strain on the body than normal super saiyan. The power output is comparable to being 3x stronger than a normal super saiyan if the Dub is to be believed. But its not really explored after the cell saga. Which is understandable, as Goku shows a superior branch off. Though this form should not be understated. The only real change I would add to this is that the form works like Full power Frieza, that it gets weaker over time as its burning through the power more. I think this is a form Vegeta would settle on because it would be enough to crush the androids
This than leads to Super saiyan grade 3
The muscles swell even more and the hair gets ultra spikey, the power output is much greater than grade 2. I like the way Abridge Goku describes the form. In terms of raw power it has a 50% increase in power and mass but a 75% decrease in speed. Making the user slower. And like the previous form, is a massive stamina drain. I like to think that this form is 5x stronger than base super saiyan, but slower than a normal super saiyan because of the mass decrease. If it was about raw power, this form could have uses. Thats how I like to view the form.
Next we get to Super saiyan grade 4 or as I call it Mastered Super saiyan
This is the 4th branch and the way Goku and Gohan decided to advance Super saiyan. Mastering the form, minimizing the energy output. Whats great about the form is that it is a complete mastery of the wildness of super saiyan, much like how Ozaru needed to be mastered to gain the Ikari form, Mastered super saiyan is similar, Being able to transform with no emotional change, maintaining the transformation without issue. Complete mastery of the form allowing the user to be calm. This allows the full power of the transformation to be revealed. I like to think that Super Saiyan, one only attains the true power once its honed, and thus this form, which is why I say this form is like the best of the prior two forms, So I like to say that this form is 5x stronger and faster than normal super saiyan and no loss in speed or stamina drain. And it takes this form of mastery to unlock the secrets of the next level of super saiyan. Which leads us past the grades and to the next ascension.
Now this form, Super saiyan 2, is canonically described as 2x stronger than Super Saiyan. For my take, its actually 10x stronger than base super saiyan, if it is compared to a Mastered Super saiyan, than its a 2x multiplier. I like the idea that a normal super saiyan could never compare to super saiyan 2, and the multiplier being a 10x difference just feels more accurate and I like the boost in levels being increments of 10, plus it makes more sense if looked at it this way considering how easily Gohan massacred the Cell Juniors.
So Gohan awakened this form through his rage. And much like the base form to activate the transformation, But that is basically what happened with the first form. Well here is the thing, This form is rage, not just overwhelming emotion. It is anger beyond belief. A rage that one lets themselves get lost in. But the requirement being that the one who attains this form must have mastered the super saiyan form, because if it was simply a super saiyan losing themself to anger it wouldnt change anything. Its the control being snapped by anger. So with super saiyan 2, comes a feeling of pure rage that is hard to be controlled. Its lightning aura and even spikier hair. Id make it longer and more spikey to ensure no confusion. I would also add some bonuses, like cant be mentally controlled (this will come into play on how Vegeta would be able to break from Babidi's control)
I want Super saiyan 2 to have more benefits than just Super saiyan but stronger. I would add Elemental aspects to it. Maybe an immunity to electricity or maybe able to manipulate electricity. Or if we wanted to add a uniqueness to it, each Super saiyan 2 gets their own unique element, Gohan getting Lightning, but Vegeta could maybe get fire, Trunks could get Metal control. Just as an example
Now While its never discussed, since the next form is just Super saiyan 3, I'd like to talk about Mastered Super saiyan 2,
Much like with Super saiyan, being able to not only master the rage of the form, but attain a calm in this form has even more benefits. Like being able to have greater senses, being able to read people's emotions, like telling truth from lies, maybe able to create anything from the mentioned special element. I would also add the 5x multiplier that mastered super saiyan has over regular super saiyan. We know great power can be drawn from super saiyan 2, because in that form, Vegeta managed to draw power that surpassed Goku in super saiyan 3 when fighting beerus.
Though that was because he tapped into his rage in canon, mastered form of super saiyan 2 would be the opposite. Rage is only the ignition.
But now brings the question of the next form
In the show its never really addressed how Goku attained the form, just that its going "Even further beyond" super saiyan 2 / ascended saiyan
Now this form is often seen as "Cool but not that deep" and in some cases seen as a detriment. Its also said to be 4x stronger than super saiyan 2. When I think of transformations this is the one I want to change.
I would make it 10x stronger than super saiyan 2, keep the 10x multiplier between forms.
The draw back of the form is fine, and thats why mastering it would be incredibly hard, it being a Super powerful form but only good in short bursts is fine.
I would add that this form grants immunity to detrimental effects, like being blinded, poisoned, etc. This form cant be bound by techniques. Really making this a form that is unbound
The condition to unlock this form is not rage or pure emotion. Its actually focus. It takes a LOT of focus in order to unlock the form. Losing focus will cause the form to drop, And to master the form, Focus must become effortless.
The form is not effected by extreme temperatures, Able to fly through Lava or the arctic with no issue. The aura around the user is so strong only those of the same or greater power can even punch through it.
And that covers all the Dragon ball z forms. But what about Daima, GT, and Super?
Well lets go to Super saiyan 4
I like the Daima version better than the GT form, BUT I do like how GT explained the form. But this is how I would describe the form.
Its the fusion of the super saiyan form WITH the Oozaru/Ikari power. It requires the user to transform into super saiyan 3 and then activate their Ikari power. It is when focus meets instinct. The fusion of these forms force the user to transform into a Giant Golden ape, and when that occurs, the Saiyan MUST regain his senses and when he does he will transform into the super saiyan 4.
With this form, the Raw might of the Oozaru is given to the super Saiyan.
This gives the Saiyan access to his tail, but also bonuses such as
Super enhanced senses: Sight, hearing, smell, all enhanced allowing it to be impossible for them to be snuck up on by a mortal foe.
Size alteration: Super saiyan fours can grow to the size of a Great ape/Oozaru, no additional strength gain, but no speed lost.
Multiple elemental manipulation: While able to conjure the element given to the saiyan at super saiyan 2, this form allows for ALL elemental powers.
Near Magic immunity: Sealing techniques and magic spells done by non God Ki users do not work on this form. It can even dispel magic by touching an object. Even the dragon balls wishes impacting the user would be dispelled (it was something sort of hinted at in GT, but I liked it)
And as you know its a 10x boost from super saiyan 3. Which I like cause 10x increments,
But now, what about Super saiyan God?
Super saiyan God or Saiyan God
I would call this form Saiyan god. thats my first most obvious change.
But lets stick with what I would keep.
6 pure hearted saiyan ritual is needed to unlock the form. Having saiyans rely on others makes unlocking the form interesting and it shows being good and having allies is a good thing
It being a god form and far surpassing the realm of mortals is obviously expected.
Now for what I would change
I would have the form allow the user not need air or food while in the form. (Its god like power, so being able to fight literally anywhere would be peak for saiyans.) I would also have the user able to copy any technique seen by them, (Monkey see monkey do). in the god form the user can sense all powers within the universe, a sort of omnipotence to it (not complete obviously). Precognition, and of course power that far surpasses any super form prior. As an additional bonus, Aura augmentation, able to make their aura into solid constructs, (this is something akin to the dragon fist, or beam swords so its not so far off but it adds a mystical aspect to the form.)
Super saiyan god super saiyan, Super saiyan blue, or as I would call it, Super saiyan god
This is what should be called super saiyan god. Now Honestly, I would probably change the color. But if I had to keep the Cyan blue. Than here is what additions that I would do with the form
This form is 10x stronger than saiyan god. Not 50x, mainly because the merging of the forms is not perfected yet. When its mastered, then its a 50x multiplier compared to saiyan god.
The form gets all the benefits from the previous forms but also gains Energy absorption. Meaning that the form can take energy into itself if hit with an attack IF prepared to absorb it.
The form like in canon does take absolute calm to perform, one must have mastered the first form of super saiyan. And its why the Kaioken can be used in this form.
Advanced Magic immunity: Magic, illusions, seals, nothing can take down a Mastered Super saiyan god, Even if the opponent can use god ki. (Does not cover destruction energy, and Angel powers are not magic but a unique thing outside of that,)
Soul control: Ki being energy of the soul, Super saiyan god has the power to control their souls, making it so they cant have it affected by other beings regardless of the foes powers
Now this is where I add my own unique form. a fusion of the Ikari form, God Ki, and super saiyan. which I call.
The form looking like a Gold version of Super Saiyan 4, with the aura of saiyan god.
A form that is even beyond the power of mastered super saiyan god. Being a full 10x stronger than that form. But also grants the user the following.
Erasure immunity: The user in this form can not be erased in anyway. destruction energy, informational, etc. They cant be erased. Instant death techniques also fail. Their reality cant be over written or erased
Absolute instinct: Like Ultra instinct, but innate to this form, it allows the user to react based on the animalistic instincts of the saiyan/oozaru.
Gravity control: They can fight anywhere, and using their power has so much energy they can use it to weigh down their enemies by altering gravity, even able to bring others to or away from them
Dimensional travel: Considering how Super saiyan blue gogeta and broly were able to break dimensions with their fight, traveling between realms at will is not out of the realm of possibility
Chrono stability: Time around them does not impact them. They cant be aged by an accelerated time area, time travel cant impact them, they cant be paused, and they can view foes that use time powers. They cant manipulate time, but their time cant be manipulated.
Growth over time: The longer they fight the stronger they get and the growth is permanent.
The main thing I wanted with this form is that Saiyans were made to fight, their transformations are only to make them better fighters. No cheap tricks or one shot tricks should not be a factor. Like having someone rewrite their story. Saiyans only will die if you kill them through fighting, and thats what a true saiyan.
Though obviously staying in this form takes MASSIVE strain on the user, the focus and balance of the 3 aspects of a saiyan to make the form work makes it insane to maintain. Its the pinnacle of the saiyan power
