A Foot in the Door

@gallant-gained Lambda has come to play.

So, Pops wanted Lambda to play nice with the Nohrian prince for some reason. He'd tell her why later, just be careful but nice. Lambda wasn't so sure she was the best for this, Auntie knew all the rules of courtly manners and stuff and there were better smooth-talkers in the clan than her. Loads better.

But Pops made the decision, not her!

So Lambda and Reownha stood chatting idly in the twisted gardens of Castle Krakenburg. Buddy system, of course; it was dangerous to go it alone, take a friend. Especially in someone else's stronghold.

“They’re paying us, so that we can build things for them? That’s just dumb. Why don’t they just pay the people who are actually building those things?”

His brain hurt. This was yet another thing Dad hadn’t explained to him.

“J-just a little ambush, that’s all! Nothing a vulnerary couldn’t fix.” A shame his sleeve was all ruined now, bloodied and torn as it was... and concerning, that his mind went to his wardrobe first and not that he almost lost his life back then. At least, it would be concerning to the mind of an average man, but that was war for you.
