This is a link to the twitter page I set up for the purpose of promoting the Serendipity exhibition for the duration of the project. There has been support shown on the site from Castlefield Gallery, The Centre For Chinese Contemporary Arts, Manchester Wire, Emily Speed, Cactus Collective, Art Map Project, Fred Aldous, NOMA, Visit Manchester, The Co-Operative, Lancashire History, Salford Create and various other people/organisations, I am confident this particular social networking platform has helped the exhibition gain Interest/popularity, and has been a useful tool for receiving and recording feedback for the Exhibition.

A little background info on where our gallery project space- Serendipity-

Serendipity:

Serendipity: "happy accident" or "pleasant surprise"; a fortunate mistake. Specifically, the accident of finding something good or useful while not specifically searching for it.

Well, I'm super happy about creating work for the gallery project in response to this theme; especially since this basically sums up my creative process. I like to happen across objects or places and usually find that through play and exploration comes a series of pleasant surprises that could not be planned in the first instance, but can be recreated and developed after the initial 'happy accident' has manifested.

An excerpt from a book Danny and I made last year to document a small collaborative project sums up the essence of this type of creation quite well:

"...off we went loaded with paint and enthusiasm. I believe that the creation process should be playful, and from play comes knowledge, understanding and further inspiration. A great deal is learned from connecting with your inner-child and following intuition. Collaborating and connecting with those around you or the found objects and materials that surround you..."   "Art is not a thing; it is a way."

CIRCUS, Will this be Gallery Project's last hurrah? 

Gallery Project presents Circus, a multimedia exhibit in which 25 local, regional, national, and international artists explore the changing nature of the circus in American culture.  Curated by Origins & Endings participant, Erin Garber-Pearson, this exhibit will be on display until May 5th. 

Hours: Thursday-Saturday, noon-9; Sunday, noon-6pm.

The gallery is closed Monday-Wednesday.

August Updates~!

Just some quick media updates; a few magazine reviews and a "for sure" on a network television series ;D As far as the latter goes, I cannot (sadly) reveal any details until I get the green light from the producers :( Trust though, I wouldn't be considering television if it wasn't going to be damn good television ;)
