the easy answer would be yes. there are so many things she should know, so many things he wants to tell her but his mind can’t put them into words. ( — can’t, don’t dare, there is no difference. ) he doesn’t even look at her right away for he knows his eyes would give him away. she knows him too well, she always has. he knows it’s because they are similar yet so wastly different. it’s because she knows what he’s saying when he’s not using any words. he cannot say it’s the same for him. he hardly ever understands what’s going on, is too literate, cannot properly read body language. yet, with her, it is easier sometimes. still, she is a mystery.
so many things he wants to tell her, so many things she wouldn’t understand. his mind is running and running, circling, trailing along new paths and going back to the old ones. finally, david looks up to meet her gaze, abandoning his work long enough to converse with her, to acknowledge her. to appreciate her in his own way. he could have sworn he would have expressed all of his thoughts right then and there as he looks at her. and yet, his mind goes blank and there is only one thing leaving his mouth, ❝ did you know that you can melt the metal gallium in the palm of your hand? ❞ hands fumble, clasping together as if he’s holding the metal between his hands. it’s not the most brilliant thing he has ever said to her, rather the opposite, still, he hopes she understands that it’s all he can say right now. that he wants to say more but this has to be enough.
