Oh yes. There is definitely a place for praise, Obi-Wan 😏 Excuse me, I just need to go SCREAM into the void somewhere 🤣

I think my favourite part might be that Anakin is literally sitting on the edge of Obi-Wan’s desk in the library while this happens. Something about that just kills me.

After reading Karen Miller’s Wild Space some months back, I’m now reading Gambit: Stealth, also by Miller, and I’m in absolute delight. I’m about 70 pages in and already we’ve got:

Ahsoka thinking about how there is “absolute trust. Absolute faith” between Obi-Wan and Anakin

Obi-Wan and Anakin thinking about each other constantly

Obi-Wan and Ahsoka fighting together and Ahsoka saving Obi-Wan’s life

Ahsoka informing Obi-Wan that she found him on the battlefield in the first place because “You kind of light up the Force like a bonfire, Master Kenobi. Almost as bright as Skyg--I mean, Master Skywalker” and Obi-Wan blinking, “disconcerted,” at that

Anakin arriving, hearing Obi-Wan say “ow” (literally) and thinking to himself “Ow? Oh, great. He’s done it again.”

Anakin drawing transparisteel shards out of Obi-Wan with the Force and then insisting that Obi-Wan be evacuated because he’s hurt. AND THEN Obi-Wan arriving back on the ship and Yularen being there on the hangar bay to meet him because Anakin “did mention in passing that you might get--ah--sidetracked, on your way to the medbay.”

I literally cannot handle it, I’m about to burst, it’s...too glorious. Like looking at the sun.

on Obi-Wan Kenobi finally getting some sleep

(yes, this is another Gambit: Stealth post 😆)

I’m one of those people who has no problem with spoilers and will, with very rare exceptions, skim a book before I read it. So I knew, from skimming this book some months ago, that this was coming. I have, in fact, been reading towards it this entire time because I wanted very much to read it in full context. Obi-Wan Kenobi Finally Getting Some Sleep is one of my favourite tropes in Star Wars fic.

One of the greatest things about this book has been getting to see multiple people, like Bail and Yularen, tell Obi-Wan he needs to get some sleep and take better care of himself.

But, you know, it’s best coming from Anakin.

At this point in the book, Obi-Wan and Anakin are, quite frankly, exhausted. They’re hiding out, and both of them, naturally, deny their need for sleep because *screams.*

Eventually, Obi-Wan gets to the point where he’s so tired he can’t focus or read, so he decides he could use a small, thirty minute nap, and asks Anakin to wake him if he doesn’t wake up on his own. Anakin agrees.

Big surprise: Anakin doesn’t do it.

Now, they’ve been arguing, so Anakin kind of wants some time to himself, I think. So he lets Obi-Wan keep sleeping, finishes fixing the comm he was working on, and then picks up the research Obi-Wan had been doing and does that too.

But it’s not just that he’s mad. He also knows Obi-Wan needs the sleep:

And when Obi-Wan finally wakes up hours later, Anakin wastes no time in pointing it out:

Of course, it would be FANTASTIC if Anakin would GET SOME SLEEP TOO:

And just for good measure, from earlier in the book, some Anakin not wanting to eat until Obi-Wan can eat too:

In conclusion...Anakin looking out for and taking care of Obi-Wan. Actually, that’s my introduction, thesis, supporting arguments, and conclusion.
