Drug and gambling raid in Fyffe, AL leads to multiple arrests...
Gambling News: Policeman Runs Gambling Den from Home
A rather bizarre gambling raid made the news recently when a Mumbai police officer was arrested for running a gambling den out of his residence. When police arrived at the suspected gambling house they were shocked to find it was actually the home of one of their colleagues. 12 people were arrested on the spot as well a large amount of money.
The police received a tip off that the large scale illegal gambling was taking place in a one bedroomed apartment and formed a special team to raid the home. Police discovered 12 people playing cards and a large sum of cash. Upon questioning of the 12 suspects police received confirmation that the home was owned by a police man.
The police constable was no longer residing in the premises however when he moved out, he handed over the keys to a known gambling kingpin. The constable has now absconded and cannot be located.
Although this story seems unusual, gambling dens are problem not only in India but around the world and not so long ago a gambling house was raided in Oz in a Sydney supermarket (http://www.abc.net.au/news/2012-12-22/police-raid-gambling-den-in-sydney-supermarket/4441400).
