Might be an unpopular opinion but I would love the ending more if the player disappears for real. I love tragic endings but other than that for me it would be better for the character journey of the partner. Through out the story, your partner said that they are strong and able to go on the adventure because the player is with them. But the player disappearing would mean that the partner would have to be strong alone which is an ending that I would love for my beloved partner! Other than that, its a great ending for an emotional rollercoaster of a game.
