Let's Settle It!
"Welcome once again to the Firty-tirst annual Vidyathlon. For those anons just tuning in, we've just wrapped up our pre-pregame show and are beginning our post-pregame show." "I'd like to start it off by calling my co-anchor, SNES-tan, a turbonerd." Genesis-tan jeered. "You called me that like seven time during the break." SNES remarked. "Yeah, but I can't miss the opportunity to say it on the air." returned Genesis with a smirk.
"Who the heck even is this Gamesphere guy?" Vita-tan asked PC-tan, gesturing at her match-up on the big screen hanging above the stadium. "He's round." PC-tan replies matter-of-factually. "Well gee, thanks Professor Google I couldn't figure that out by myself." Vita-tan grumbled, "How am I supposed to fight someone I know nothing about?" "I'll give you a powerful word of advice kid," PC-tan said, kneeling down to the eye level of his small conversation partner, "You can do anything if you believe." "Hm, that's clichéd but surprisingly deep PC-tan." Vita-tan mused. "Shut up kid, I'm not done yet." PC-tan snapped, "You can do anything if you believe and you don't totally screw it up." "O-oh." Vita stammered back. "Now, go get in there and do whatever it is you lesser beings do to succeed at simple tasks!" PC-tan said enthusiastically. He'd probably sound like a coach if he didn't totally mess up at the actual motivational part. Vita-tan gave a weak smile and began walking towards the entrance of the Videodome, the environment that the Vidyathlon matches took place in. Before she stepped in she took one last deep breath and looked up into the bleachers. In the stands, among the anons gathered to watch the day's competition, were the Nintendo family. 2DS-tan was waving both her arms like while and 3DS-tan gave Vita the stink eye and stuck out her tongue. Next to them was PS4-tan, who looking through her Eyenoculars, unwilling to miss such a big first for her baby sister. In the seat to her left was Xbone-tan, jabbering away about something Vita couldn't hear. One thing was certain, PS4-tan was totally ignoring all of it. Just standing around was only making the nerves mount, so Vita-tan stepped into the blackness of the Videodome...
"And so the begins the first match! In the red corner is the big, round man himself. He's not just round, but spherical! SPHERICAL! It's Gamesphere!" Genesis-tan shouted into the microphone with excitement. "In the black corner. She's mean, she's lean, and this is the longest outside she's ever been: Vita-tan!" Genesis followed up. "That was... creative." remarked SNES-tan, "Anyway, for those anons at home watching the Vidyathlon, I'll go ahead and elaborate on the rules." "It's quite simple, really. In the Vidyathlon, there are three rounds of fighting. The loser of the match is determined when one competitor either doesn't stand after five seconds or one chooses to surrender." "What makes the Vidyathlon more than just bare-knuckle fighting is the inclusion of Game Wishes. Each competitor selects three special moves from their library, and may use one of them in each round. Each fighter has their own style, which makes things that much more exciting." "Snore! Are you done yet?" Genesis-tan asked impatiently, "Because the fighters are leaving their corners and I don't think anyone wants to listen to you yammer on in the middle of the action."
Inside the Videodome, the stage was set. Like a scene out of Town of Zzt, the environment was very utilitarian, with a bright green platform in the middle of a black void. All around in the distance were waterfalls of fluid that shined a rainbow of colors. Vita-tan marveled at the sight of the landscape until her opponent made his presence known. "Hmph," Gamesphere-tan huffed, "So this is the best they had around for me? I'll run circles around you, kid." And so Gamesphere threw him self forward, bowling himself towards Vita-tan, who jumped aside at the last minute. "C-crap," Vita-tan panicked to herself, "This guy might way tough." She picked herself up off the ground and hurried across the battlefield. Gamesphere-tan skidded and quickly turned to follow. The edge into the void below was fast approaching. "Argh, I can't keep running forever." Vita realized. She slowed to a halt near the edge and quickly tried to think of a strategy. "Maybe I can trick him into rolling right off..." she contemplated. Vita whirled around and took a fighting stance. Her opponent, however, merely bounced to a stop in front of her. "Oh, so you're actually going to fight?" Gamesphere taunted, "Well, come get some of this curved goodness, kiddo." Unsure what to do now that Gamesphere wanted to fight, Vita-tan threw a couple of punches at his torso, but shockingly they just bounced right off. He merely laughed at the attempt. "This is going to be too easy. I guess it's too cruel for someone as flawless as me to torture the likes of you, so I'll end this quickly. First game: Supra Mayro Kratt!"
"Oh my! Vita-tan has been chased down and it looks like Gamesphere is using his first game!" SNES-tan exclaimed in the play-by-play broadcasting booth. "It's Joshy! Joshy is competing!" Genesis-tan shouted. "I don't even know who that is and it's shocking!" SNES-tan added.
Back in the Videodome, Vita-tan was running along the perimeter of the battlefield, trying to escape Gameshpere, who was now riding in a "mayro quality kratt". Vita threw herself out of the way of the machine, towards the inside of the ring while Gamesphere continued to ride around the outside. "Just what is he up to?" Vita-tan wondered, "He's driving in a circle, which isn't a big surprise but..." That's when she noticed that the area of the battlefield was slowly closing in.
"The battlefield is being forced out of existence!" Genesis-tan hollered in disbelief. "By Slippy's ghost, that 'kratt' is so poorly programmed, it's actually consuming the world under it. It's only a matter of time before Vita is out of room to run." SNES-tan commented. "It's game over man. Just stuff this loser in a locker already and move on."
Slowly, Gamesphere-tan closed in on Vita, who was trapped and running out of time fast. "It's finished! No question!" he laughed, celebrating his impending victory early. "This is bad!" Vita-tan worried, "Is there any way out!? How could I lose in the first round!?" As panic set in, Vita remembered the words PC-tan said to her before the start of the round: "You can do anything if you believe." It wasn't quite accurate to what was said, but it was enough for Vita-tan to face her foe. "This better work..." Gamesphere was encroaching quickly, but not a moment too soon Vita-tan invoked "First game: Super Monkey Ball" A giant, plastic ball surrounded her. The sight of this spherical surprise made Gamesphere-tan stop on a dime. He leapt from his kratt and placed both his hands on the giant ball. "No! It can't be possible!" he lamented, looking in at Vita with a forlorn face, "I can't bring myself to harm something so round." Vita-tan just grinned back at him. "I-I have to surrender. You fiend!" he bellowed. At that moment, the Videodome opened as Vita-tan stood triumphantly over a defeated Gamesphere. Smiling, she waved at the roaring crowd of anons. "So this is what it feels like to be a winner." she thought to herself, "I could get used to this feeling."
"Wow, I take back what I said. Someone get that kid a skateboard so we can go shred some rad moves!" Genesis-tan remarked about Vita-tan's comeback. "That's one way to start the Vidyathlon. The other way to start it is apparently by passing out before you match starts. That's right, the 2DS vs Shield match has been cancelled because Shield-tan was unable to compete." SNES-tan informed the viewers. "N64-tan was on scene to ask the other competitors what they thought about these turns of events. 'I swear I just said hi to him!' was what PC-tan had to say. When asked for comment, Wii U-tan told us 'Ara ara!'" SNES elaborated. "Gee, if everyone else keeps fainting like a dork, then the Vidyathlon will be over in no time this year." Genesis-tan complained to SNES. "Your vote of confidence in these great games is so reassuring." SNES-tan huffed back, "The next match being held is between 3DS-tan and Xbone-tan. We'll be bringing you coverage of this fight shortly."
3DS-tan pulled her gloves on and cracked her knuckles. After a few stretches, she put her glasses on and turned to her family. "Good luck 3D-tan. You've been working hard for this." wished Wii U-tan. "Yeah! Punch her face right off!" 2DS-tan shouted in excitement. 3DS-tan just chuckled. "Of course, I won't let you guys down." She stepped through the same door that Vita-tan had gone through not long before. Soon the next match would start, so Wii U-tan and 2DS-tan made their way back to the stands to watch. On the way, Vita-tan noticed the pair and hurried over to 2D-tan. "Hey, did you see me? I won!" she boasted. "Yeppers! That was super duper smart!" 2D-tan replied with a huge smile and threw her hands in the air, "It was cool!" "Heh, stop, you're embarrassing me." Vita-tan deflected the comment, yet revelling in it internally. "I'm gonna' go watch my big sis fight, so I gots to get back to my seat. Buh-bye!" 2DS said, turning to scurry off, but Vita grabbed her sleeve. "Hey, we'll be up against each other in the next round... when that happens you'll help me to win, right?" Vita-tan asked, with an edge of excitement in her voice. "Whaddya mean?" 2D-tan asked, cocking her head to the side. "Y-you'll let me beat you right? You know I need to win. It's important you me, so you'll do it won't you?" Vita asked in earnest, her voice oddly quivering. 2DS-tan frowned, "Uh, I mean... that's not s'posed to be how it works." "But, you'll do it, right? Because we're friend, right?" Vita strongly insisted. At that moment, SNES-tan's voice came over the PA to alert everyone to the start of the next match. "I really gots to go now..." 2D-tan said as she hurried off to watch her sister, leaving Vita-tan all alone. "It'll be fine, won't it?"
"The sparks are flying in this battle!" SNES-tan said of the fight. "More like needles!" Genesis-tan added, "Xbone sure didn't hesitate to use her first game in this fight almost right away." "That Needler is sure to be a thorn in 3DS-tan's side!" chuckled SNES. "Please stop. After the round man I've had enough puns for one day."
Back in the Videodome, things really were heating up. Compared to the last match, the environment was entirely different. Where once was a round platform suspended over a void, a open topped cube, within which pillars that seemed to extend upwards forever dotted the open space. Between the pillars sprinted 3DS-tan, deftly avoiding the needles flying in her direction. "I'm pretty lucky she's a terrible shot, but even I'll make a mistake sooner or later. I need to end this before it gets out of hand." 3DS told herself. "Aww, come on out 3D-tan," Xbone pleaded to her opponent, "I don't really want to fight either, but if I don't big brother will be disappointed in me." "I promise I'll just cripple you you can't get up." she bargained, as if that was a much better option than anything else. "Fat chance, fatty!" 3DS barked back at her. "F-fat?" Xbone-tan stuttered, "I'm not fat! I'm just big boned!" She fired angrily at the pillar where the voice had come from, but the next moment 3DS-tan spoke... and it came from another direction. "Of course. There's more of you to love, not that there was much to begin with." Xbone-tan whirled around and fired off another barrage. This one wasn't a miss and caught 3D-tan in the ankle. "Rgh, I made a mistake after all... better not let it be the one that ruins me." she though through the pain of the wound. Gritting her teeth, she pulled the needle cleanly out in one stroke. "S-stop saying things like that. Come out and fight honestly." "But of course!" 3DS-tan answered, and appearing as merely a shadowy figure, she rushed Xbone-tan from behind. Xbone wouldn't have know what hit her had it not been from the grinding sound she heard from behind her. By the time she had turned around it was too late, 3DS was already bringing down the blade of the Master Sword on Xbone's helmet. Then, there was only the sound of metal on metal, followed by Xbone dropping to her knees. What came next was only silence. Of course, that silence was almost immediately by Xbone crying "M-my Kinect! You broke my Kinect!" The shock of this damage kept her so busy, she forgot to stand again before the knockout clock ticked down. With that, a buzzer sounded, signifying the end of the match. And so the second match of the Vidyathlon came to an end.
"Well, well," said SNES-tan to her co-host, "That's one way to get ahead." "Ugh, your puns are giving me a splitting headache." Genesis-tan replied. SNES-tan just nudged Genesis and say "Eh? Eh?" until it suddenly dawned on her that she only contributed to the punny situation. "I-I hate you." Genesis grumbled.
Outside the Videodome, 2DS and Wii U were already there to commend 3DS on her victory. On the opposite side, Xbone lamented her defeat to her brother. "I-I'm sorry big brother. I couldn't do it after all." she cried, hugging her large sibling around the waist. "That's okay, you did your best. It just wasn't good enough." PC-tan said in a strange attempt to sound reassuring. "Thanks bro, you always know what to say." Xbone said, somehow a little more cheerful that before. As the next match was fast approaching, PS4-tan and Vita-tan arrived in the prep area. "My, my," PS4-tan laughed haughtily at her rival, "you sure showed that little handheld what for." "Hey! I did my best!" Xbone-tan reiterated, but PS4 just scoffed at that rebuttal. "What a shame that I won't be able to face such a skilled fighter this year." she shot at Xbone-tan, the sentiment dripping with sarcasm. In response, Xbone just squeezed her brother harder and glared at PS4. PC-tan just massaged his temples in frustration. Babysitting these children was even worse every time the Vidyathlon rolled around. Just, then he felt a timid tapping on his back. When PC-tan looked down, he saw Vita-tan twiddling her fingers, avoiding direct eye contact. "H-hey, PC-tan. Thanks for earlier." she said in a quiet voice. "Thanks for what?" PC-tan in genuine confusion. The goings-on of peasants were never something he found he could keep in order easily. "Oh don't be so modest. You know. It gave me the strength to win. Now that I know that I can, I'll keep doing it!" Vita-tan said with determination, a fire burning in her eyes. "Right. That. You... keep doing that thing I told you." PC told her, still not actually remembering what it was he said. "Yeah! I can make it now! Thanks!" Vita nodded in agreement and ran off to prepare for the next round. "Hey Vita! Aren't you going to wish your sister luck?" PS4-tan shouted after her, but the thoughts of winning had consumed Vita and the voice never reached her. "I swear, when that kid gets hooked on something she won't stop until it all crashes on her." PS4 mumbled to herself in worry. There wasn't much time for her worry, though. SNES-tan's voice once again rang through the stadium to signal the start of the match.
"Already we've come to the final match of the first round of this 4Tst Vidyathlon." SNES-tan announced. "And somehow, despite being totally lame, it still managed to be more interesting than last year." Genesis-tan added. "Are you still mad you lost our match last year?" inquired SNES, purposely needling Genesis. "You know that you would have been totally annihilated by my superior speed if it weren't for that stupid green dinosaur!" she responded in frustration. "Of course. But to bring our attention back to the present, this next match is between PS4-tan and Wii U-tan. What are your feelings on this match, Genesis-tan?" "As always, I never bet on the Nintendon't." Genesis answered firmly. "And as always, you tend to lose those bets."
The Videodome booted up for the third time. The setting this time was a cliff hanging over a rocky cove. On the open edge was Wii U, facing down PS4 on the opposite side. "Ohohoho, this is going to be a cake walk," PS4-tan laughed, "and since it's you I'm facing, I guess we could call it Christmas cake!" "My, you have quite the sharp tongue." Wii U-tan responded, "Children shouldn't talk like that to their elders. I think you are in need some serious discipline." "Like a slow, old fuddy-duddy such as you can even lay a hand on someone as great as I!" PS4-tan fired back, turning her nose up. "Oh really?" Wii U-tan asked, very clearly pissed off behind her smile. She cracked her neck, took a fighting stance, and gestured "bring it on" at PS4-tan. "Hmph, as you wish. First game: Bloodborne." PS4 called out, summoning a large cleaver to wield. "It's not my first choice for a weapon, but it's a blade after all. How much different could it be?" she commented on the weapon as she hoisted it up and pointed it directly at her opponent. PS4 then rushed into take a swing at Wii U, which she dodged easily, quickly stepping around behind PS4. PS4-tan swung around behind her to try to catch Wii U-tan off guard, but she had stepped behind her again. "Ara ara~" Wii U whispered into PS4's ear as she wrapped her arms around her waist, "I thought you said I wouldn't be able to touch you?" "H-how?" PS4-tan sputtered, unable to turn to face her opponent. Wii U-tan just smiled, and lifted PS4 up off the ground, above her head and tossed her off toward the open end of the ledge.
"D-did you just see where she touched her!?" SNES-tan exclaimed to Genesis. "Whoa! Bad touch! You usually gotta pay extra to see stuff like that." Genesis-tan said with a lecherous grin.
Recovering quickly, PS4-tan pulled herself back up on her feet. "What the heck?" she shouted, "This shouldn't be happening!" Wii U-tan continued to smile as she took slow steps towards PS4-tan. "S... STOP!" PS4 shouted at her. "First game: Super Mario 3D World." And in a whirl of flame, Wii U-tan borrowed the signature Fire Flower powerup from ancient Nippon tradition. "You don't scare me!" PS4-tan tried to bluff, the crack in her voice obviously giving her true feelings away, "Sonys must always remain calm!" Wii U flicked a fireball in PS4-tan's direction, eliciting a squeak from her. At the last moment, though, PS4 blocked it with the blade of her cleaver and it bounced away in another direction. "Heh, i-is that all you've got?" PS4-tan shouted, still trying to bluff. "Oh, no," Wii U told her nonchalantly, "I'm just warming up." Then came the volley of fireballs. PS4-tan did her best to dodge them, but she ended up playing right into Wii U's plan. "My, you're so good at dancing PS4-tan. At least you can do something besides talk big." she chuckled. "This is getting too hot to handle." PS4-tan panicked, "I can't maintain my silky smooth 30fps!" It was true, PS4 couldn't keep up with the pace of the fireballs anymore. Finally, one hit her square in the gut and sent her flying of the edge. The last thing PS4 could utter before hitting the water below was the Wilhelm scream. The buzzer sounded and the match was over.
"Looks like PS4-tan is all washed up! And with that, the first round of the Vidyathlon ends with a splash!" SNES-tan shouted into the mic with excitement, "Can you believe it?" "Oh shut up." said Genesis-tan, punching SNES in the arm, "What I can't believe is how often you make these puns. If you don't stop I'm going to take your hat and start putting weird things in it again." "Hey wait you said you wouldn't do that ever again!" But before a full argument could break out, the station cut to a commercial for the Mad Catz "Claw".
During the intermission between rounds, 3DS-tan relaxed by the ringside. As she lay sprawled out on her back, Wii U-tan approached and greeted her. "I thought we could have a little chat before the next match." she said to the girl. "Sure, what about?" 3DS asked, flipping herself up to sit with Wii U. "Like I told you earlier, I know you've been working hard at this. You do have a lot to prove after all." Wii U said to her younger sibling. "Yeah, and? We're up against each other next. Scared you're going to lose to me?" she said grinning at Wii U and gave her a nudge. Wii U petted 3DS on the head and said, "No, but I am going to drop out of the running." 3DS-tan batted her hand away and glared at Wii U. "What!? Are you making fun of me?" she snapped, "I've been training hard and I'm certain I can actually beat you now." "Now, now," Wii U-tan attempted to calm 3D-tan, "it's not like that. I actually think you'll win too, but if you want to make it all the way you'll need all your strength. I don't want your effort to all be wasted." 3DS-tan just sighed and looked the other way, "Do whatever you want." Wii U smiled and ruffled 3DS's hair once more, "It's not just that. I've always wanted to try my hand at commentating too, you know?" With that Wii U got up to leave, taking a moment to dust off her behind. "Oh, but before I go, don't think that this means it'll be easy." she cautioned, "There's someone out there who wants to win just as badly as you do."
"You're going to let me win, aren't you?" Vita-tan asked 2DS-tan. Vita had tracked her down and hauled her aside to make sure that she could secure victory easily. "I mean, you want the best for me, so that's obvious that you will." she said with confidence. 2DS-tan looked severely uncomfortable and wouldn't make eye contact with Vita. "I can't do that... that's cheating ain't it?" she said, trying to dissuade Vita. "No, I mean, look... I have to win. This is my only chance to stop being so worthless. Do you want me to feel like that forever?" Vita-tan asked earnestly, gripping 2DS-tan's shoulders tightly. "N-no but you gots to do it yourself or else it's no good. Ow. Vita-tan you're hurting me." 2D-tan squeaked. "I promise I'll do the rest myself, but I can't lose here." Vita-tan said, letting go. Vita smiled and turned to go, shouting around the corner of the hall "I'm counting on you." But 2DS didn't answer nor did she smile back.
"Welcome back to the 4Tst Vidyathlon. We're going to be starting off the second round soon, but it'll be a short one this year." Genesis-tan announced. "And that's because we now have a third anchor joining us: Wii U-tan." she said with a gesture towards the woman in question. "I just couldn't help myself, you two sound like you're having quite a bit of fun up here." Wii U said, smiling at Genesis. "We're glad to have you on board." Genesis replied with a hand on Wii U's shoulder. "Speak for yourself!" SNES-tan pouted. "Wow, you really go far with that jealousy thing don't you?" Genesis-tan scoffed. "I'm not jealous!" SNES-tan shouted back "I just want to sit on the other side of the desk as her..." "Whatever you say Miss Goody Two-shoes. Anyway, Wii U, what do you think of the Vita-2DS matchup?" After contemplating the question for a moment, Wii U-tan said "I think this might be the second most exciting fight all day." "Why is that? I mean, we've got a shut-in geek versus a special..." Before she could finish the derisive remark, Wii U gave Genesis a look that sad "Don't you dare finish that sentence." "Ahem, an especially good natured little girl." she finished. "Well, I think when it comes to this match, both competitors have the most to lose." Wii U-tan reasoned.
Inside the Videodome, the setting this time was a little girl's room. To be more accurate it was a GIANT little girl's room. An odd setting, for certain. Vita-tan pushed her way out from under a large stuffed teddy bear and took a look around. She spotted 2DS-tan up on top of the bed. "Okay, let's make this look convincing. Second game: Senran Kagura." Vita uttered. A burst of light, and the transformation was complete. Now wearing a cute school swimsuit and armed with large, well, arms, Vita was mildly confused. "What the heck? Muramasa? She's not even in my entry in the franchise. I was really hoping for Mirai, but I suppose that's what I get for not being specific." Vita noticed a flash of light from up on top of the bed as well, but she could no longer see 2DS-tan. "Hm, looks like she's going to make it look authentic too." Vita-tan thought her self, now at the foot of the bed. "I guess I better get climbing." Climbing to the top was an effortless task with her newly granted armaments. "At least they're good for one thing."
"Oh man, what are they going to do on the bed?" Genesis-tan asked Wii U. "Genesis, there are children here!" Wii U replied, gesturing at SNES-tan. SENS-tan just puffed out her cheeks in bottle up frustration. "That Animal Crossing Game Wish seems like it's going to be tough to utilize, though." Genesis-tan commented, "Looks like this will be interesting after all!"
Finally, Vita-tan dragged herself up over the edge to find 2DS brandishing a fishing pole at her. "Uh, 2D-tan you know if you're going to let me win you should at least make it look cool." Vita-tan complained. To this, 2DS only shouted back "No!" "What do you mean 'no'?" Vita-tan asked incredulously. Vita made an advance on 2DS-tan, but she cast out her line up and over Vita. "What? Come on, stop playing around." Vita demanded. But 2D-tan had other ideas. She had hooked Vita's behind on that cast and, through the power of magic and video games, somehow managed to flip Vita-tan forward. The force from the flip pulled Vita right out of her huge gauntlets, as they were too heavy to come along. Now Vita was pissed. She scrambled up to 2DS and before she could hook Vita again, Vita ripped the rod from her hands and cast it aside. Undeterred, 2DS raised her fists in defense. This defiance just instilled rage deep within Vita. "What the hell are you doing?" Vita-tan shouted. She raised her hand and brought it down in one stroke. A loud smack cracked the silence of the soft pink room. "Stop making me look like a fool! Stop fighting back!" Vita shouted again. 2DS-tan still refused to lower her fists and actually threw a punch, which Vita stepped aside from. Again Vita slapped 2DS, knocking her to the ground this time. 2DS would stand and take the same stance again. Another slap from Vita. "I thought we had an agreement!?" Again, from the other hand this time. "I can do anything you know!" Smack! Another across 2D-tan's face, now red from the blows and damp from the tears rolling down her cheeks. "What kind of friend are you!?" "I'm not your friend! You're just a bully!" 2DS-tan finally shouted back, shoving Vita-tan away. It wasn't the force of that push that knocked Vita down, though, but the force of the denial. She sat there stunned. She couldn't feel the pain in her hands. She couldn't hear the knockout buzzer sounding either. She only saw that sad, lonely look on 2DS-tan's face.
Vita-tan spent the next intermission vegetating under the bleachers. There wasn't anything left. No winning. No success. No friends. No 2DS-tan. It was the last one that got her the most, though. Vita buried her head in her hands. "Why can't I stop doing retarded things?" she berated herself, "Why am I so useless?" Suddenly, there was a loud noise as the bleachers were lifted up into the air. Vita turned around to find PC-tan had hoisted them about his head. "Oh, Vita-tan. There you are. Wii U is looking for you. She's waiting over by the broadcasting booth for you." he told the girl. Vita just sighed an "ah" as she stood up and plodded off to meet Wii U-tan. As she passed by PC-tan, he told her "Oh, and I'm sure you know this, but, well, ya' screwed it up kid." Vita-tan didn't register this though, as she continued to shuffle her way to the broadcasting booth. Her heart and body felt like lead. "I wonder if this is what it feels like to be a zombie?" Finally, she dragged herself to face Wii U. She expected to be harped on for what she had done, but Wii U just frowned at her. "You feel sorry about what you did right?" she asked. Vita-tan nodded weakly, tears welled up in her eyes as she thought of the gravity of what she had done. Wii U-tan embraced her and stroked her head. "There, there. You've already punished yourself enough over this." "B-but 2D-tan hates me now. What can I do?" Vita-tan mumbled into Wii U's bosom. "That girl has a surprisingly open yet strong heart." Wii U told Vita, "If you show her that what you did isn't all you see her as, then I'm sure she'll forgive you." Vita-tan wiped the tears from her eyes and took a deep breath. "Okay. I'll do it." "If you hurry, you can still make it before the final round ends." Wii U said, but Vita-tan had already dashed off. "Sometimes these kids can be too naive... but maybe that's the best thing about them." she thought to herself as she opened the door back into your booth.
"Oh, back from your smoke break so soon?" Genesis asked the returning Wii U. "Genesis-tan, we're still on the air! Remember kids, smoking is bad for you." SNES-tan said authoritatively. "And if you tell that to anyone at school, they'll shove your head in a toilet." Genesis snarked, mocking SNES's tone. "This match is really getting intense though." SNES-tan announced, ignoring Genesis, "The Nintendo sisters are surprisingly evenly matched." "I thought that 2DS was a goner when 3DS revealed her second game was Kid Icarus, but 2DS's clever use of Brain Age has allowed her to predict the trajectory off all the arrows sent her way." Genesis-tan recounted. "That 2DS really is something else. But it's in her nature not to hurt others." Wii U commented. "This it anons, it's all come down to the result of this match."
Another arrow whizzed by 2DS-tan as she dodged artfully out of the way. 3DS-tan cursed to herself. "It's time we step it up. Third game: Kirby Triple Deluxe!" she shouted summoning a large hammer as her weapon. Using the rocket booster in the hammer, she took the game closer to home. Moving quickly, she only barely missed hitting 2DS-tan. "It's a lot harder to avoid when you don't have the time to think about it!" After another series of near misses, 2DS ducked behind a one of the large stones littered about the battlefield. She was scared. "I wanna win, but sis tried too hard for this." she reasoned, "If I steal it from her, I'll just make things harder for everybody." "I already made things worse for Vita-tan... maybe I shoulda lost back then..." Then, faintly, from somewhere, 2DS-tan heard a voice. "2D-tan, can you hear me?" She looked around, trying to figure out where the voice was coming from. "I was wrong. I'm not the one who can do anything. It's you!" "Vita-tan?" Outside, Vita-tan was shouting directly into the wall of the Videodome. "You have to hear me 2DS! I don't want to stop being your friend!" she shouted as loudly as she could. Back on the inside, 2DS-tan just blinked at the source of the voice, then she smiled. Galvanized by feelings of the heart, she stood once again to fight. "Is that Vita-tan?" 3DS-tan asked herself outloud, "Just what the heck is the nut up to this time?" While 3DS-tan was distracted, 2DS had climbed up on top of the rock. "Awright! Let's settle this! Third game: Mii Maker!" And from behind 2D-tan stepped forth five, lifesize Vita Miis. "That is both weird and worrisome." 2DS-tan and her cohorts rushed 3DS, but, with one swing alone, she knocked away all the Vitamiis. "Well, that was surprisingly easy. I guess they're like Vita after all." she remarked, "Now, let's end this." Staring down her younger sister, 3DS-tan began to lift her hammer. Vita-tan's voice broke through one last time. "I want to tell you I'm sorry, 2D! Even if you think I'm a bully! Even if you hate me! You're my friend and I love you! It can't be anyone else!" At the exact same moment, the Vitamiis said the same thing in perfect unison and rose up. They charged 3DS-tan again from behind and tackled her before she had a chance to react. Their momentum was to great though, and 2DS-tan ended up in the dogpile as well. 3DS struggled to push the bodies off, but it was too late, the buzzer sounded. The matched ended in
"A DRAW!?" screamed Genesis-tan, "What kind of lousy, rip-off anticlimax is this!?" "Amazing, the last match of the Firty-tirst Vidyathlon has ended in a tie!" SNES-tan shouted, "You don't see things like this every day! What are your thoughts on this U-tan?" "Hm, I suppose everything worked out in the end." Wii U answered, "What is that even supposed to mean?" Genesis-tan asked, but received only a chuckle from Wii U-tan.
2DS-tan stepped out of her end of the Videodome to find Vita-tan waiting for her. When their eyes met, Vita-tan immediately began sobbing and threw herself at 2D-tan. She tried her best to spit out an apology, but the words just got stuck in her throat. 2DS just hugged her and caressed her back. "It's okay. I'm sorry too. Even if I said you was a bully, you're not. You're my bestest, special friend. I love you too." she whispered whispered. Though she couldn't stop crying, Vita-tan was able to smile through the tears. PS4-tan, Xbone-tan, 3DS-tan, and PC all looked on. "Come on, let's give these two a moment." PC-tan told the others, as he lead them away. "A draw, huh?" 3DS-tan said to PC, "That means we don't get a chance to take you on this year." "No, but it does save me the trouble of having to fix the Videodome again this year. I always push things a little too far." 3DS just hung her head and frowned, but after a moment she grinned and looked back at PC-tan, "There's always next year!" "Yeah! Next year I'm going to trounce your fat behind, Bigbone!" PS4-tan taunted her rival. "W-well that's not gonna happen because I'm gonna win the whole thing and then marry PC-tan!" Xbone shouted back at her. "That's preposterous!" PC yelled, as the other two laughed at the absurd reaction. And way, way up at the top of the bleachers, now emptying as the anons filed out, Wii U-tan smiled as she looked on at the scene below.
