Keep Developers Out Of City Council, Reaffirmation
Earlier today I posted about the conflict-of-interest concerns I had with developers running for public office, and just now I am reading an article on page D1 of the Richmond Times Dispatch which falls right in line with my concerns.
"Apartments Planned For Interbake Foods Plant" reads the headline.
Some key notes:
Work on the project hinges on CITY COUNCIL'S approval.
Contractor and Developer David Gammino is one of the investors of this project, as owner of City & Guild.
David Gammino is also running for CITY COUNCIL this year.
The Interbake Foods project is expected to cost near $25 million.
As well, David Gammino is now being sued for $13 million for his part in a development scheme with a former, and now incarcerated, business partner Justin French.
