hey old enemy, did you know that Critical Race Theory doesn't refer to history at all, but to legal studies? Some (statist) republican lawyer probably saw the term out a rearview mirror, thought it sounded scary, and ran with it. I'm not kidding you here.

I can believe that a lot of the people opposing CRT are just as statist as those pushing it, although I think that speaks more to the disturbing number of statists in the country in general.

I'm honestly not sure if I'm understanding the rest of what you said, it almost seems like it's an academic point whether it's historic or legal if the objection is that it's propaganda. I'm not even sure at what level this is being pushed into curriculums. If it's not being widely adopted then that's all the better and rather encouraging. All I know is that some places have been instituting pre-emptive bans on the same grounds they'd use to ban using tax money to teach phrenology or eugenics, and there's a seemingly large group of people outraged and trying to deliberately mischaracterize this as "Banning schools from teaching about racism and slavery."

I went to school well before anyone ever said anything about "Critical race" anything and I can promise you they still had plenty to say about racism and slavery. Definitely in history. I don't know if they teach much about slavery in legal studies these days but I can promise you they definitely talk about racism.
