I really like to imagine that during the Second Western Capital arc, the Ma clan occasionally got to have some nice family dinners together. In normal times, Gaoshun is often away from his family because he's busy with the emperor, but now they're (sans Maamei) all together in a shared annex, all mutually tired of Gyoku-ou's shit and the food shortages and other Western capital nonsense. They might not always get to eat together, but I'm sure they did sometimes.
Some potential dinner table scenes: Gaoshun and Taomei eating together quietly but gratefully. Chue teasing Basen and saying they should eat the duck. Everyone berating Basen over the duck again. Chue looking after Baryou and making sure he's doing alright as he eats. Taomei making sure Chue behaves. Gaoshun being exhausted by the antics though deep inside he's thankful to be with his family again.
So much potential in that annex! I need those stolen moments!
