Update 2
Hello!
It's about time I updated you guys on my goings on over the last week or so. It's been busy few days I'm with lots of stuff going on.
1) The reading continues as ever, I'm almost half way into my Rescue Diver manual which I'm trying to finish before leave on the 7th of July. In addition to the Rescue manual I'm still reading the collection of Fitzgerald AND a new book by Washington Irving which is on my reading list for university.
2) My trip to Eton College. I was asked by GapForce to go at talk at a gap year fair at Eton, the fair was organised my Eton College. The fair was organised by futurwise my role was to talk for about 5 minutes to 250 lower 6th students on my gap year experience. I followed Phil Murray who spoke for about 20 minutes about taking a gap year in general. After speaking I met up with James from GapForce [Phil had to dash] and helped man the GapForce stall. This was a great experience, it was great being able share my experiences so far and inspire others to take a Gap Year. I think I'm right in saying that Phil the director at gapadvice.org He e-mailed me afterwards - I've copied the email in which you can read what he wrote below.
"Well done, Joel, at Eton. That was really very good - you have a talent for it. Could you possibly agree that the following is a summary of part of what you said, which I could use in an article - As Joel Evans from London said ‘After re-sitting my A levels, I needed a break. A gap year gave me a secure environment between school and university to try and see things I’d always wanted to. Adapting, evolving with other volunteers was great preparation for university and fabulous life experience.’ All the best at Keele."
How cool is that?! I'd be well up for going that again.
3) I've sent off the first draft of my travel article to MPW. I should hear back from John Luke who's editing the magazine article very soon now, so I'll keep you posted on that front.
4) Gym and a few days of work this week at the Royal Albert Hall.
Thanks, I'll keep posting as my departure just nearer
Big love
J x
