Thinking about Garak and Bashir and the fact that Garak is extremely whumpable to me in the traditional sense, i.e. I enjoy seeing him in pain and distress and whatnot, but with Bashir I derive the most fulfillment from thinking about him getting pushed to his limits mental health-wise and responding by lashing out at people and torpedoing his most important relationships. I think because they both fear losing control, but with Garak it's more a fear of showing vulnerability, and with Bashir it's more a fear of hurting people or alienating them. So it's satisfying to think about those fears getting realized
