I bought a Garibaldi blouse on Etsy for Victorian caroling next month
this is a Garibaldi blouse. it’s a very 1860s article of clothing and one of the earliest women’s shirts that was actually a shirt and not like a bodice for a two-part gown
I wanted something besides my ballgown bodice to wear for pre-ball caroling, because Salem in December is COLD and my ballgown bodice has the tiniest puffed cap sleeves. even with my capelet over it, that would have been pretty chilly and caroling lasts for about an hour. so I bought the first piece of daywear in my historical closet. but because I am Victorian goth trash, I thought I could also wear it with jeans and an underbust corset for everyday. I got it from Etsy instead of making it because I’m lazy and I found one that was reasonably priced. it came in the mail today
and you guys
you guys
this shirt, when worn with pants
is the gayest article of clothing I own
I have no idea why. I own two shirts that actually say “lesbian” on them and this blouse is somehow gayer
I feel like I need to be presenting a pretty maiden with a rose every time I wear this shirt. like some kind of deeply lesbian pirate
so anyway Garibaldi blouses are gay culture now I don’t make the rules
