BMW 5 Series to Launch in India on 29 June 2017

BMW is all set to launch the all-new 5-series in India on June 29. The new BMW 5 Series is built on the OKL platform, with the chassis being constructed out of a mix of carbon-fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP), magnesium and aluminium.

The longer wheelbase has enhanced the cabin space for the occupants’ comfort. The fresh iDrive system now supports gesture control. It allows you to change the ambient lighting, vehicle setup, audio setup and other settings through the rotary knob, touchscreen or the steering mounted controls. The intelligent remote key fob of the new 5 Series can assist you move your car from the outside, in a straight line.

Jaguar XE Diesel launched in India

Jaguar XE diesel has been launched in India at Rs 38.25 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The XE sedan was available only in the petrol guise when it was launched in India last year. Bookings for the diesel XE commenced earlier this month.

The XE diesel, similar to its petrol equivalent, is available in three trims - Pure, Prestige and Portfolio. It remains visually similar to the petrol variant and the features are evenly matched as well.

From Inside, there is an eight-inch touch screen with smartphone connectivity, navigation, Bluetooth, USB, AUX and a 380W Meridian sound system. The upholstery can be in Taurus leather and comes with options of driver seat memory, 10-way electric front seats, four-way lumbar support and light oyster headlining. BMW confirms xDrive system for the 2017 M5.

The xDrive has been configured as a rear-biased setup, and the front wheels come into play only when the rear wheels aren’t able to handle any more power and start losing traction. There are three levels of adjustability for the xDrive modes - 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD. Therefore, people can opt for classical rear-wheel-drive setup by deactivating the all-wheel-drive system.

Lexus ES200h First Drive Review.

2017 marks the entry of Toyota’s luxury hand, Lexus in the Indian market. The Lexus ES300h is based on Toyota’s K platform which also underpins the Camry.

As far as styling is concerned it definitely makes an impression and the signature Lexus spindle grille looks bold and the arrow-like LED daytime running lamps completes the premium front look. In outline the pronounced shoulder line, coupe-like roofline and well detailed multi-spoke alloys look nice. At the rear the signature L-shaped taillight, an integrated spoiler and shapely bumper looks really nice.

Where the Lexus ES has a luxurious appearance on the outside, the account once step inside isn’t as glowing. The curvy dash design definitely gets a big thumbs up from us, but it is in detail where the ES300H somewhat disappoints.

Touch points like the steering, gear-lever, door handle and hand rest are all draped in rich hand stitched leather. But in most other places it is all covered in hard plastics and this is where ES300H’s price tag seems a bit too steep.
