/reviewing the first 10 songs i got when i shuffled my downloads jfdfhskjfd
doing something a little different :p
1. Dying Star - Ruston Kelly: 7.3/10. I like the guitar, it doesn't drag on too long, the harmonizing with the other vocalist towards the end is very nice and it feels honest and worn down which matches the lyrics. not super outstanding just a peaceful angsty song.
2. All For Love - Jukebox the Ghost: 8.5/10. I really like this one. they're one of my favorite bands tbh and Safe Travels has a lot of their best music. the piano is beautiful as always and it feels very wintry which I like a lot.
3. Goodmorning - Bleachers: 8.9/10. extremely catchy, I like the callbacks to Wild Heart and the scattered feel of it. the instruments are really pretty in this one!! I don't think it's a *masterpiece* + I don't like the one-sided music in places, it is a bad sensory experience lmao. but very good song.
4. pajamas - Garrett Nash: 6.8/10. see I have had this in my downloads for a million years and it mainly gets points docked for being super basic and a little cliche. but I think it's sweet and it sounds nice so it's not a *bad* listen.
5. Don't Go Slippin' Away - The Brook & the Bluff: 8/10. the album- Yard Sale- is one of my favorites and has been since I think December? but this song isn't the best on the album. it is a little repetitive. still sounds super nice though.
6. Tomorrow - MIKA: 9/10. ok this has everything to do with when and how I found this song bear with me. I love MIKA and I found this song 1 1/2yrs ago, midsummer, when I had an absolutely untamable crush. the atmosphere was perfect. also it's a very pretty and polished song with an immaculate aesthetic. would recommend.
7. One More Time - Jon Bellion: 5.8/10. I downloaded all of The Separation at once so this is just in my library now. the only upside to this objectively bad and unsexy song with unnecessary amounts of panting in the background and what seems to be the aesthetic of a stadium (????) is that it is so goddamn funny.
8. What'd I Do With All This Faith? - Bleachers: 9.4/10. I want to be fair and unbiased even though this is my favorite song atm (save 45 from the same album) but I absolutely adore this song. without getting too personal I know this song is about politics but I project a different meaning onto it and it makes a great crying song FDHSGFHDJ. I love the saxophones, I love the varying volume, it's just about perfect imo.
9. The Photograph - The Night Game: 7.8/10. good concept, good execution, good vocals, but not super outstanding in any of those categories. what I find more interesting is the artist in this case actually, you should check out his stuff it is wild. super inconsistent and unique lmao-- with a couple songs that can only be described as "yung gravy if he was an art major" (looking at you Magic Trick.)
10. Good Wife - MIKA: 9.6/10. I think this song is fcking outstanding just in concept alone lmao. it sounds nice but it's also surprisingly funny and relevant, general gay anthem. would absolutely recommend.
