The clouds put on a display over the Strait of Juan de Fuca yesterday (7-30-25), so I rushed down to Joseph Whidbey State Park to get a few pictures. We were not disappointed.

Rain was back in the Columbia Gorge a little early this year. It did not make it to Hood River, but I got rained on at Cascade Locks. The West could use a good soaking this year.
The clouds even made it to The Gorge White House. This is really the place where the Rainshadow begins. The wet west and the dry east meet here.

It’s hard to choose a first image for a new platform. Surely, leading off with a popular one would be best. Right? I’m of two minds on this. Popular is good. The image should say something as well. I chose this one because it expresses a sense of humor. It’s also a large format film image. I hope you like it.

“Mt Hood From the Jonsrud Viewpoint, Sandy, Oregon.” . This picture looks best on a larger screen. ©2021 Gary L. Quay Gaia and I were out to Sandy, Oregon this morning to catch a sunrise. It was a nice one. I had the deardorff along to do some 8x10 color slides. I may haveruined 3 sheets of film at $18.00 each. It was too dark to see the foreground when I set up, so I focused on the mountain. Later in the morning, I checked my focus before switching to black and white, and the foreground was out of focus. I may have overexposed them as well. I will still get them developed, but I am not holding out much hope. Anyway, the shy was impressive this morning, and at least I got some digital pictures that worked out.
