Yesterday was Guillermo del Toro's birthday, which reminded me that it has already been a year since the premiere of one of the most epic art shows I've ever put together. Guillermo del Toro: In service of monsters was an absolute dream come true for me. A true labor of love and appreciation for one of the most creative & unique artists living today. I was truly honored getting to work with so much amazing talent, including artists that have been a big inspiration to my art & career. As well as being able to direct & collaborate with various artists to do specific pieces I had in mind for the show. A very special thank-you to Gary Deocampo for his support and for coming along the crazy ride with me and to James & Tayler Brown, and the Figment Foundry crew for making the show such a success! Those arches made that gallery space so much bigger! I will be forever be in your debt for creating such an inspiring environment that wrapped the entire show together. Happy belated birthday Guillermo! P.S. If you haven't done so already, go checkout Guillermo's amazing exhibit at LACMA, which includes pieces from the art show! http://www.lacma.org/guillermo-del-toro #guillermodeltoro #figmentfoundry #taylerbrown #garydeocampo #chogrin #inserviceofmonsters #artshow #cronos #thedevilsbackbone #panslabyrinth #crimsonpeak #gallery1988 #lacma #athomewithmonsters
