Welcome Gary - Lokku's first Geotechnologist in Residence
Traditionally the week between Christmas and New Year's is one for looking back and reflecting on the accomplishments and lessons of the past. Instead, I'm happy to say that here at Lokku we're looking firmly forward into what promises to be a great 2014. Today we announce that Gary Gale will be joining us from next week as our first Geotechnologist in Residence.
As outlined a while back, we're diversifying our business to stand on three legs. Gary will help us on two key pieces: exploring how to commercialize some of the geo technologies we've built in house, and helping us analyze seed investments in the geo space.
For those that don't know Gary, the best place to start is his personal blog - he is a geogeek of the highest order. Gary joins us from Nokia where he was Director of Global Community Programs for HERE, Nokia's mapping brand, and before that he was in a senior geo role at Yahoo! where he worked on things like GeoPlanet (one of the technologies behind Nestoria) and the slightly-too-ahead-of-its-time service FireEagle. Gary is a #geomob regular (BTW we look forward to seeing you at the next #geomob on the 14th of Jan), and also has a whole host of official (i.e. paeleo) geo-credentials as well. In short, he's just the one to help us conquer the world in 2014. Welcome Gary!
If you want to stay up to speed on Gary's antics, at Lokku or otherwise, he is an avid twitterer and (perhaps inevitably for someone in geo), foursquare user.
If this post has whetted your appetite as to what kind of geo fun we've built beneath the Nestoria hood, a good place to start is this talk about the geocoding challenge we face (and solve!). If you'd like to learn more, please get in touch.
I hope to have some more good geo related news to share in a few weeks time. Until then, all good wishes for a great 2014.

PS - Gary's not enough, we're always on the hunt for other smart people to join the team.
