gator panic
there’s a new post up at the world’s greatest obscure videogames review blog, and this month’s foray into the non-videogame world looks at a cool little replice of an electromechanical arcade classic. go and read about it~!
and please show your support by reblogging this post and maybe also subscribing on patreon, for early access to new posts, and lots more screenshots of every videogame covered :D
gator panic/wani wani panic/wacky gator is another cute namco electromechanical arcade game i’d really like another chance to play.
look at the boring, lifeless way this guy plays though, just tapping the gators with his hand. pick up the mallet and put your heart into it! >:O
I have a LOT of thoughts towards Wreck-It Ralph (which I'll probably toss up here some time), but I wanted to mention one small thing real quick. I don't know if it was intentional, but Ralph's "I'm gonna wreck it!" reminds me so much of one of my most favorite arcade games, Whack-A-Gator/Wacky Gator/Gator Panic, where the game would start off yelling "I'm gonna get you!" It's a mechanical game instead of a video game, so that's why I don't know if it was on purpose. I have a LOT of memories of playing Whack-A-Gator when I was little, sometimes alone, sometimes with a parent or two, and maybe even with friends. It's a little important to me, so I do like the shout-out, even if it is unintentional.
