It had been a long shift — fourteen hours long, to be exact, and there didn’t seem to be an end in sight. For a relatively small town, Charming seemed to have many problems. She was running on fumes at this point, in need of a pick-me-up. After leaving her last patient and washing her hands, she started toward the break room, pouring herself a cup of coffee when she arrived, sweetening it to her liking.
She took a few minutes for herself, finishing her coffee with ease, hoping that it would set in soon as she walked down the hallway toward the admittance office, gathering a few charts on the newly admitted patients. Leaning against a nearby wall, she started skimming through them, gathering information on the ones that she’d be treating.
She heard an unfamiliar voice as someone approached her from behind, her expression questioning as she turned to look at the male it belonged to. “What can I do for you?” she asked.
