That little snippet of James acting a little shady down by the river, I reckon is a flashback to the night Amy died. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure he's wearing the same outfit. Although everything seems to be pointing to James, I really hope/don't want to believe that it is him. My bet is on Armstrong tbh.

At this point I don’t care who it is as long as it’s not James. We know it’s not Mercedes (and she won’t be back for a year), it’s not Ste, it’s not Ryan (His alibi is sleeping with Kyle, unless there’s some sort of twist. But to kill your wife and then sleep with a man immediately after? Doesn’t seem likely unless Ryan has no soul). So that leaves James, Harry and Armstrong as the only real suspects left, oh and the mystery suspect (Which could be the kids or Mike by accident, but given Leah says in the summer trailer that another person entered the scene after Ste, I doubt it. I’m not sure if Kyle was meant to be the mystery suspect, but wouldn’t he have the same alibi as Ryan?).

Armstrong is looking most likely at the moment, but isn’t it a bit easy to pin the murder on the creepy stalker? And as far as we’ve seen he hasn’t shown any violence towards women. Also aren’t they introducing him as the main suspect a bit early as well? Knowing Hollyoaks they try to drag these things out as long as possible and it would be way too early to reveal the killer. Plus the aftermath of it being Armstrong would be anticlimactic. Who would it really affect? But if it were a character with family and/or a real connection to Amy it would have a far greater impact. For me the main thing that makes Armstrong likely is he’s disposable as he isn’t a regular character yet, other than that it’s just too easy/obvious.

Onto James. Since James is a suspect they have to make him look suspicious for storyline reasons, but I doubt they would make him a killer as they’ve painted him as a very sympathetic character with a big heart underneath the cold, snarky facade. Not to mention Gregory Finnegan is a hell of an actor they really can’t afford to lose. You could be right about the scene on the jetty being a flashback, but why would Armstrong just bring up his suspicions now, unless he’s trying to deflect blame from himself perhaps? And I assume James will be his lawyer, as it looks as though the stalker charges are dropped if Armstrong is roaming the streets again. There is evidence against James with the ringtone and not turning in evidence to clear Ste, but I think his revenge plan for the McHay affair is to insure Ste is locked up for good. I don’t think he would kill an innocent woman for revenge purposes. James is vengeful, but he isn’t a killer.

And until I get an explanation for Harry having the shoebox containing the shoes that were worn at the murder scene and him changing his shoes before the crime, plus the dark hoodie (washing blood off in the sink), running through the woods and him missing a call (plus sounding very guilty and weird on the phone with Tony/Diane), I am still highly suspicious of him. His behavior over months has been panicked and manic as well. I think him being Ste’s champion is to deflect suspicion so the audience is shocked when he is revealed as the killer. Would anyone be shocked if it were Armstrong?

But again, at this point I don’t care as long as it’s not James.
