Not that Theo was selfish, but to see the diner void of people was certainly one of the good nights. Though if he remembered correctly, he did hear about Dr. Powell celebrating his birthday or something and they were most likely racing each other to who gets cardiac arrest first by chowing down on platter after platter of Mama’ fries in the comfort of their pantry -------- or maybe they don’t share Theodore’s own views of the pleasant afterlife. Whatever was happening, he took his victory and took one of the chairs by the diner bar and plucked a menu out of the rack for him to sift through --------- all until he saw a familiar face that barged out of the kitchen. Benito’s on shift on a good night—now that’s a good afterlife fantasy too. But not for long.
“So,” Theo huffed, setting the menu down before he slumped his shoulders and leaned over the counter like he was keening onto some kind of secret between the two of them. “--------- what is like, the most most tedious thing that the diner has to offer?”
