the notification rings through the artificial dark, drawing spock's attention from his meditations. requiring less sleep than a human, most nights he spends pouring over reports and requisitions forms -- and then centering his mind. his body. his katra. all vital to be functioning optimally. despite knowing the message could, in theory, be from multiple subordinates; could be regarding on - going research or test results; something tells him it is not any of his science officers, or any other one the ship, save for one. he needs not look to confirm his suspicions, yet he reaches for his datapadd regardless; unlocks the screen, and sees the physical manifestation of that gut feeling humans enjoy praising so much. yet, while he expects the sender, what he does not expect is the message itself. short, succinct, but not lacking for emotional output in the slightest. spock stares at the message, fingers hovering over the keys, response after response flitters across his min.
UNSENT : You just saw me, Captain. [ deleted. ]
UNSENT : Your absence, too, does not go unnoticed. [ deleted. ]
