She had needed the fresh air. Although they weren’t all confined to the castle anymore, Emmeline was still finding the walls to be almost suffocating, choking her out and leaving her gasping for air as she tried to get through each day, waiting for everything to settle again and for her to begin feeling at least relatively safe.
The library, the place that had been Emmeline’s refuge since she first walked into the school, was currently out of the question. She couldn’t quite bring herself to go back there. She had taken to wandering the grounds instead, often hoping she’d just manage to not run into anyone.
She should know she was never that lucky.
“Apologies.” She muttered, spotting the blonde not far from her suddenly. “I don’t want to bother you.”
