Pray for Ahok. Until last night I didn't know who Ahok was nor what he stood for as governor of Jakarta. I had the chance to meet him in Jakarta in a hotel lobby during our #gdpicon2017 conference dinner gathering. It was like pandemonium when Ahok walked through the hotel lobby (reminiscent of the love America had for Obama) I saw how flocks of citizens crowded him to get his attention. I walked out to find out who this man was. He didn't deny one Indonesian a handshake or a hug. When he reached out to shake my hand the only words that could come out of my mouth were "God bless you and keep you!" From there we took a selfie and then a group pic, possibly his last selfie and fan picture before I found out this morning he was sentenced to two years imprisonment for "blasphemy" against the Koran. From what I understand he was caught in a major political war and unjustly he was convicted. I'm sure like all humans he isn't perfect and like all of us make mistakes. What I do know, and what I felt last night is that #ahok is a good man, a godly man & a generous man who wholeheartedly has given his best to serve his city of Jakarta and nation of Indonesia. I hope those who read this post take a moment right now and every day to #prayforahok that God would give him the grace, patience, wisdom and strength to endure suffering as he faces prison time. Through this challenge he will come out a champion. Through this test he will become a testimony. Through this let down he would again rise up and lead a nation and a generation to freedom, life, purity and the pursuit of happiness. #basukibtp #indonesia #prayforahok ๐๐ฎ๐ฉ (at HI Kempinski Jakarta)
