The Path Through Impact Investing: The Swift Foundation’s Journey
The Northwest Global Donors Exchange (GDX), is pleased to present Sonja Swift and Leslie Christian at an afternoon forum Tuesday, November 4
Sonja Swift, Trustee, The Swift Foundation
Leslie Christian, CFA, Leslie E. Christian, LLC
Facilitator, Paul Lippert
Impact Investing is gaining momentum throughout the country yet many of us wonder what it is and how it works. Get answers to some of these questions by joining a community conversation with two women for whom impact investing has come alive. Sonja will tell the story of the Swift family’s journey to impact investing and lessons they learned along the way. We will have the opportunity to discuss what steps the Swift Foundation took towards impact investment and what lessons it might have for our own giving. The Swift Foundation is committed to investing an increasing portion of its endowment in investments that are aligned with its mission. Currently 30% of the foundation’s investments are allocated towards Mission Related Investing, supporting biological and cultural diversity, addressing climate change, and enhancing the health of communities globally. Leslie will ground us in the definition of impact investing, give examples of successes and challenges and inform us about what people are learning about applying various models. The event is the second in a series of global donor conversations to discuss trends in philanthropy and pressing global issues of interest to new and seasoned grant makers, donors and philanthropists from our region.
Date: Tuesday, November 4 Time: 3:00-5:00 PM Location: 220 & Change (220 2nd Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104). Cost: $15 for Northwest Global Donors Exchange participants. $20 for the general public. Register here- sign up early as space will be limited!
