Excerpt #2 Gede Parma: "Waters of Reparation"
“...the importance of embracing death as a threshold of renewed consciousness--to a reawakening of the amazing depth of potential we hold inside. The beloved dead are spiritual allies who are willing and able to aid us in reclaiming these gifts... Here is a ritual of reparation and reconciliation inspired by a part I contributed to a ritual at the inaugural Australian Reclaiming Witchcamp in Victoria. The sacred intention of that particular night’s ritual was ‘we open our ears to the dreams alive in the land and step through the healing door.’ It was essentially a ritual in which we created a spell by holding our ancestors’ dreams in one hand and the dreams of the land in the other. We then stepped through the healing door into balance and truth by crossing those dreams over our hearts. Before we embarked on sealing this spell, I wove together a spell of my own to charge the four bowls of water in the centre surrounding the altar. As each of us spoke aloud the names of our ancestors and their dreams, I drew these threads into one tapestry. ...Four graces carried those bowls out to the circle, and each person had the opportunity to wash their hands - not to clean themselves of any perceived past sins of the family, but for healing and wholeness, which only come with re-membering... The Waters of Reparation Ritual: The bowl of water should be placed directly in front of you... Give reverence to the origin of this water, and invest sacred presence in the here and now. Taking the red thread into your left hand, focus inwardly and honor your ancestors. Perform the following blessing as you hold out both of your hands to either side as if you are holding hands with invisible loved ones (which you are). Say aloud: My mother on my left hand and the people / before her and the people to come. / My father on my right hand and the people / before him and the people to come. Cross your hands over your heart, still holding the red thread, and say: I stand in the center-I am the seed; I am the outcome; / I am the holy immrama, soul-journey of life. / And thus do I call upon my ancestors. Visualize and feel the ancient and ever-renewing legacy flowing through you now from both lines that meet to merge in you... charge the red thread in the name of your ancestors. Ask yourself, what were the dreams of my ancestors? Place the red thread in the bowl, take the soil in your right hand, and focus outward to the land to all that is a part of it (even you)... Open your ears to truly listen to what the land is whispering. What does the land dream of? The land is dreaming / The land is dreaming / The land is dreaming / And I have heard. Pour the soil into the water and cross your hands over your heart. By the blessings of my ancestors / I am made to be here now. / By the sovereignty of land / I am given this holy hour. / By the dreams of long ago / And the dreams that linger on / I pray that I will reconcile / What has been and gone. …Listen to your Own Holy Self. What are your dreams? Have they been realized, are they unfolding? How do your dreams transform and renew themselves? What is your dreaming--your living myth? ...make a personal pledge of reconciliation of self to Self. State and affirm this aloud as you pour the water directly onto the earth.” ~ Gede Parma, Ecstatic Witchcraft
Excerpt #1 Gede Parma: "Going Under..." pathworking
"Further and further the boat sails until the veils of time and space - the mists- become all-encompassing and take on a deep indigo hue. You have arrived at the fated Gate of Death - the threshold into the otherworld. The bow of the boat is halted by the power of he who guards the gate - the wolf god of the ancients. You bow, as does your guide, and the wolf god smiles, bearing his gleaming, sharp canine teeth...
You stand alone at the prow of the boat and stare evenly into the dark, endless eyes of the primal wolf god before you. You see a demand in his eyes, and you feel ready and willing to meet this demand. You breathe in deeply, and all the courage of the world flows through you...
...upon the waves of the sunless sea that I have journeyed across to meet with you, acknowledge you, Wolf God, as the king of rest that grants rejuvenation, death granting new life, and the wisdom of these ancient transitions, which have been and will be forever...
The wolf god's eyes gleam wildly with a lusty excitement, and your gut is hit with a wave of anticipation; in the shortness of a moment, in the timelessness of this no-place, all becomes dark, and you feel that you are no longer in the realm of the living or upon the sunless sea. You have crossed through the indigo veil and arrived in the place of death. You expect fear, and yet you are filled with a sense of boundlessness and freedom..." ~ Gede Parma, By Land, Sky, and Sea
I sometimes wonder how, in years to come, the inhabitants of this earth will experience and embrace Life, and I somehow think that maybe Life will be taken to mean any one of many things. These many things, all simultaneously valid, will arise from freedom of (the) Spirit and freedom to do as thou wilt. The world will not constrict the voyage of the soul, and it will not divert or deplete the flow of vitality, effervescence, and inspiration in the name of authority, power-over, and tyranny. The Greening will flourish, and all will herald its coming. Nature will be honoured, and those who choose to will know the great intimacies of its purpose. The gods will be united not as “One” under a single banner but as expressions of and denizens of Life. Those of the future will understand and accept the passages of Life, the sacred rites that come to pass, and death will not be feared but revered. The elders will know the youths, and they in turn will know the elders, and a stronghold of wisdom, initiation, experience, and energy will be forged in the heartland of the world.
