I love that the weird & no mercy routes both play on Noelle and Chara’s specific issues. like. the way the weird route was executed wouldn’t have led Chara to their breaking point the same way no mercy wouldn’t have led Noelle to hers, y’know? It’s like it’s curated.

no mercy validates Chara’s ideology around reaching the absolute. you relentlessly kill every single monster all in the name of making your levels go up. it’s methodical and tedious and it’s exactly what Chara needs to validate their philosophy.

the weird route validates Noelle’s feelings of everything being one dimensional. herself, the town, the darkeners you freeze become just another enemy. Berdly becomes just another enemy. Kris, inversely, is “elevated”, which gives Noelle the chance to elevate herself as well.

i think it’s really important that no mercy is relentless and the weird route is sparse.

#I’m rambling and honestly know more about Chara so what I’m saying about Noelle might make less sense but it’s. it’s like #the mechanics of each route are perfectly curated to bring out the worst in them.#putting Chara in the weird route would frustrate and confuse them.
