Finally found the time to finish this tonight :p Have my second favorite gem fusion, Alexandrite, complete with WIP shots. I’ve been trying hard to learn how to do digital art (after 20+ years of strictly traditional) and feel this is a satisfying step in the right direction.

Gem Egg Hell AU/Headcanons

Like imagine the Crystal gems were capable of laying eggs, but it was like the original idea where the gemlings don’t live long (like two weeks at most, and that’s why Rose had Steven as a human and did not just lay an egg)

But certain modern gems CAN lay eggs, and they can survive under the right conditions.

So like imagine Lapis went to Homeworld, and they have like customs things and she went under like a surgery/altercation that made it so that she could lay successful eggs. And eventually back on Earth she befriends the Crystal Gems and they figure out she can do it, and Ruby and Garnet want a gemling or nine so they ask her if she would lay eggs FOR them.

So Lapis basically volunteers to have eggs for them once she realizes they really want gemlings, and can’t have them on their own. cuz otp wants babies and yeah. And the 'brood' is like three Rubys and three Sapphires and then one baby Lapis, so they get the Robys and Sapphires and she keeps the Lapis.
