It's September 🙌🏾 the month many of you have been waiting for, the month of the SAPPHIRE! It's a particularly unique stone among gemstones, it's a variety of the mineral CORUNDUM. Its also a super hard gemstone, second only to diamond. And one of the best things about Sapphires, unlike other gemstones which are known for their singular hue, Sapphires come in many different colours. From pinks, to yellows, to orange, green, purple and the classic as we know it, blue! But did you know the red variety of CORUNDUM goes by another name, RUBY! All gem quality corundum that is not red is called Sapphire..... Sapphire is such a beautiful stone, available in many cuts, colours, shapes and sizes. So stay tuned for more #GemFacts this week while we explore the #GemOfTheMonth. Any questions, or if you're born in September and would like to have your own sapphire or bespoke sapphire piece please get in touch. [email protected] or visit www.goldierox.com, because it's the month of Sapphires! 💙 #GoldieRox (at Fulham)
Morning reading, then back to work today. And it's May 🙌🏾 my favourite month of the year, not just because it's my birth month but because it's the month to celebrate the EMERALD 💚 Emeralds are the birthstone for May, they have been beloved throughout human history, evoking rebirth, renewal and spring. The word “emerald” comes from the Greek word “smaragdos,” which means “green stone.” The first known emerald mines were in ancient Egypt. Egyptian mummies are sometimes discovered adorned with the green gemstone, a symbol of eternal youth in ancient Egypt - I often dream of discovering some. However, in modern day, Colombian emerald mines are legendary and continue to produce the finest specimens available. Just like my engagement ring, acquired in Columbia in 1952 by my fiancées grandfather. Did you know Emeralds are said to quicken the intelligence as well as the heart. Maybe this is why May’s birthstone is known for inspiring joy. 💚#GoldieRox #Jewellery #GemOfTheMonth #GemFacts
Alexandrite Facts!
SELL WITH A STORY: ALEXANDRITE By gemstone standards, alexandrite is a newcomer. What does it matter that it was formed 2 billion years ago? It didn’t exist for us until 1833, when emerald miners in Russia’s Ural Mountains found what looked like an emerald — but not quite. Count Lev Alekseevich Perovski, who managed the Imperial family’s estates (i.e. the mines), was a gemstone connoisseur and…

Realgar has a powdered form, but it also has poor solubility in water.
((WIP: OC Realgar is mine, Lapis Lazuli obviously belongs to her awesome creators.))
Could be wise to wear a citrine gemstone next time you decide to go camping ;) #gemfacts #citrine #jewelry #gemvara (Taken with Instagram at Gemvara HQ)
