I want to find me some Christian horror.

I'm craving a vampire story where the titular vampire is a devout Christian dealing with the ramifications of being forcibly turned and fighting with the fear (myth) that vampires lose their souls.

Gimme werewolves fighting their lycanthropy like a habitual sin, with peers both helping and hindering with advice on how to deal with the affliction.

Gimme zombies...actually, give me more zombie media as a whole like "Maggie".

I want some Lovecraft, too.

I'm sure I've said this before, but I totally get why DC made up their own cities and stuff.

It's just more fun, having that freedom. Like NYC has a ton of lore and I'm sure is ripe for some creative additions, but having a whole city to make up is just all the better.

As a matter of fact, this little topic can't go posted without credit to H.P. Lovecraft - without him and his own made-up cities, I don't think we'd have a Gotham that is as iconic and inspirational as it is, and without Gotham there's not a whole lot of personal inspiration for me.

Trying to comprehend where dinosaurs and the creatures that predate them fit in with God's creation plan has often just left me with a "shoot, because He can?", but I'm now thinking - and I'm saying thank you, Holy Spirit, in advance - that we have only the fossils of such strange and magnificent, horrifying creatures because God wants to display His creativity and mercy.

Is it truly that I wish Jesus was nicer in the gospels, or that I really wish I wasn't readily in opposition to him? Why should I want Jesus to have not made crowd-thinning statements when not wanting to be a part of the crowd - world - is the ideal? Why should I clutch my figurative pearls at Luke 9:62 when I am aware of God's Sovereign Choice and acknowledge that Jesus did not come to bring peace but the sword?

I do not think myself justified at all with my complaints, I really want to be free of them; Jesus owes me nothing, why must I still feel like he does when I understand better?

So from the rabbit hole of christian vs atheist debates has come the swim into "Molinism".

Thus far, I still hold to a Calvinistic understanding of Scripture, though apparently there's Molinists who will say that all the verses that confirm Calvinistic doctrine do the same for Molinism as well 😵‍💫

Nevertheless, the Calvinistic arguement makes the more sense to me, and that's still with what little I know of that!

So this Easter is not going as I would have liked.

I got terribly sick after I got home from work yesterday and stayed that way until the early morning today. My son is probably where I got the illness from, and praise the Lord the little guy is doing much better.

Still, horrible time management on my part has ruined my chances of attending any services today. I am actually upset by this, I really wanted to be among other Christians celebrating but instead I'm waking up late and dragging my feet.

And no one at home has any enthusiasm, either. It's like Christmas all over again. Is this how I'm going to experience the greatest holidays for the rest of my life? Fighting myself to be clean and on time and seemingly the only one in my house with the festive spirit at the same time? Father, help me please; my only solace for today is considering that maybe it was better that we didn't attend our church today.

But in spite of all of this,

Christ is risen!
