The last day of Gen Con started with Justin leaving on the 9 o’clock shuttle to make sure he could buy some of the stuff that kept selling out before we got there, like the X-Wing minis and King of New York. Kyle and I slept in a bit and put everything back in our bags. There was a heavy sprinkle as we packed up the car. The moment we got there, we invested as to what all Justin had bought. Turns out, he got my birthday present. (Side Note: the last day of Gen Con was my birthday). It was half of Darth Maul’s lightsaber. Kyle I had gotten me the other half online and he had ordered months ago. Justin had procrastinated, but it was still awesome. He also did get the new X-Wing minis, but did not get King of New York. They were only selling like 70 a day and he had just missed it.
Then we went around a bought a bunch of games. It was great. Justin had already eaten by the time I was ready for lunch and Kyle was off looking for games. So Justin and I went outside so he could smoke and I could have lunch. While sitting there, the Witch from Left for Dead walked by. That was cool. Once inside, we met up with Kyle again and Kyle and Justin played some Giant Duke.
After that we bought the actual game. And I beat Justin even though I was just messing around for like the first ten minutes. I was proud of myself.
From there we met up with a friend of Kyle’s and went to a restaurant called Barcelona. Throughout the day, three nerdy dudes had given me compliments on my lightsaber. On the walk to the restaurant, a group of dbags also gave me a compliment. Then when we got to the restaurant, one of the nice waitresses said that it was cool and that was cool. Making friends is cool.
We almost didn’t make it back to the shuttle, even though we started walking the wrong way around the convention center. After that we hopped right back into the car and began our long journey home, exhausted. A few hours later, we made it to Lisa’s house where we played a couple games and went to bed. It had been a long and fun weekend. Hopefully, we’ll go back next year.
